LUM Intern Spotlight - Meet Donna
|

Donna L. Casey - LUM Spring Intern
|
|
Donna grew up and lives in Lafayette, IN, with her husband. She has two grown daughters, three step children, and two grandchildren. Donna is working on her associates degree in Human Services & Social Work at Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette. After graduation, she plans on dedicating her career to addressing issues related to domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault.
When reflecting on her internship experience so far, Donna stated that, "I enjoy the people, the staff and clients. The shelter guests are so grateful for what we do for them that makes my heart happy. I am glad that LUM has the resources to help the people in this county."

Meet the Staff & Volunteers Who Make It Happen
|
|
Christian Gallo (pictured right) is the LUM Immigration Clinic director. He grew up in Argentina and now lives in Lafayette with his three children. Christian earned his Masters in Law from Indiana University and his JD from Universidad Católica Argentina. He was a long time member of the Indiana Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs; speaks fluent English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian; and enjoys spending time with his family and coaching soccer and rugby. In 2007, Christian coached the Purdue Women's Rugby Team.
Cristy Perez (pictured left) is the LUM Immigration Clinic assistant director. She grew up in New York City. She has spent her life in public service, from volunteering at homeless shelters to working as a social service professional with vulnerable families across the New York metro area. Cristy is fluent in Spanish and English, and enjoys spending time with her daughter, bowling, drawing, painting, and exploring new restaurants. She also has a passion for fresh seafood and Dominican cuisine.
Christian, Cristy, and the incredible team of volunteers work tirelessly, providing tens of thousands of dollars worth of expert legal advice at little or no cost to immigrants in our community. Please join them in supporting the work of the LUM Immigration Clinic!

IC Match Campaign - VIP Reception - May 2

DON'T FORGET! Every donor who gives $500 or more will be invited to attend our Campaign Reception on Thursday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Lafayette Brewing Company (2nd floor event space). This reception will provide good food and drinks with a chance to mingle with other Immigration Clinic supporters and learn more about what the Immigration Clinic is doing.

Volunteer Afternoon Receptionist Openings

If you're looking for a regular daytime volunteering opportunity, why not consider becoming a Volunteer Afternoon Receptionist at Lafayette Urban Ministry?
There is an immediate opening for a Volunteer Afternoon Receptionist every weekday from noon to 4:30 p.m., and occasionally in the mornings. Typically, volunteers work every two weeks on the same day of the week. As a receptionist, you'll be responsible for greeting guests, answering phones, and handling general clerical tasks at the main office located at 420 N 4th Street, Lafayette, IN.
