Digital News from Lehigh Valley Children's Centers - April 2021
Week of the Young Child
Join us April 12-16 for a fun-filled week celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. Share pictures, videos and stories of your activities each day on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by tagging @LVCConline and using the #WOYC21 hashtag.

April 12 - Music Monday
When children sing, dance, and listen to music, they develop their language and early literacy skills while being active and encouraging movement. Make up and record your own unique version of a song or write your own.

April 13 - Tasty Tuesday
This fun, food-themed day is about more than just cheese and crackers. Cooking together connects math with literacy skills, science, and more. You can encourage healthy nutrition and fitness habits at home and in the classroom. Create your own healthy snacks and share the recipes and photos of your creations.

April 14 - Work Together Wednesday
When children build together they explore math and science concepts and develop their social and early literacy skills. Children can use any building material—from a fort of branches on the playground to a block city in the classroom, or a hideaway made from couch pillows at home. Build and share pictures of children’s creations.

April 15 - Artsy Thursday
Think, problem solve, create! Children develop creativity, social skills and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. Celebrate the joy and learning children experience when engaged in creative art making. Use any materials—from crayons to paint, clay to crafts! Create and share photos of your children’s creations.

April 16 - Family Friday
Engaging and celebrating families is at the heart of supporting our youngest learners. LVCC recognizes family as young children’s first and most important teachers.
Pre-K Counts Enrollment for 2021-22
Children who attend a quality early learning program, such as Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, enter kindergarten with the skills needed to succeed. This state-funded preschool program is free for those who qualify and operates on an academic calendar year (September - June). Children qualify based on age and family income. If your child is currently three or four years old and your family income is less than 300% federal poverty guidelines (approximately $78,600 for a family of four), consider applying for Pre-K Counts.

Registration for Fall 2021 Pre-K Counts has begun. Children with various risk factors may be prioritized for enrollment. Space is limited.
Family Satisfaction Survey
How are we doing? If you have a child currently enrolled at one of LVCC's 30 locations, please take a moment to fill out our Family Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is important to the quality of our programs. If you completed this survey recently at your child's center, you only need to take the survey once.
