We've had a full year of learning and growth and now the end of the school year is almost here. Before we send our pre-k friends to kindergarten, we're throwing one last celebration! Preschool/pre-k families are invited to join in the festivities.

The Allentown Rose Garden Park radiated with the youthful energy of preschoolers in early May. Our friends at the Kiwanis Club of Allentown hosted another successful preschool field day for three of LVCC's sites in Allentown. Nearly 70 children from Walnut Street, South Mountain and Judith Chase Early Learning Center ran through obstacle courses and jumped along with parachute play. Key Club volunteers from William Allen, Allentown Central Catholic, Southern Lehigh, Salisbury Township and Parkland High Schools guided the children through each activity station. The day was filled with sunshine and tons of physical activity!

Even our favorite mascots joined the fun! The preschoolers loved meeting MeLVin from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Salisbury Falcon and the William Allen High School Canary.

Children ages 3-5 will gain the skills needed to enter kindergarten ready to succeed in the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program at LVCC. From reading to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and everything in between, children will become more confident in their abilities. PA Pre-K Counts is a high-quality, state-funded preschool program.

Children who attend a quality early learning program, such as Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, enter kindergarten with the skills needed to succeed. This state-funded preschool program is free for those who qualify and operates on an academic calendar year (September - June). Children qualify based on age and family income. If your child is currently three or four years old and your family income is less than 300% federal poverty guidelines (approximately $78,600 for a family of four), consider applying for Pre-K Counts.

Registration for Fall 2022 Pre-K Counts has begun. Children with various risk factors may be prioritized for enrollment. Space is limited!
