OCTOBER UPDATE
The following issues were discussed at the
September 17th Membership Meetings:
CO-CHIEF STEWARD: Tom Dietrich recently resigned from PMC. We wish him well on his new endeavors, and Thank You, Tom, for representing your colleagues with such enthusiasm! In accordance with Local ByLaws, the Executive Committee appointed Samantha Rhinesmith from the ICU day shift as a new Co-Chief Steward!  

MANDATORY SUBJECTS OF BARGAINING: If any terms & conditions of employment are discussed at Shared Governance Committees or CNO Roundtables, please SPEAK UP and remind participants the topic should be negotiated! It is unlawful for LVH-P to discuss issues like Pulling; Pay; directly with RNs.  

VOLUNTARY ON-CALL: A Class Action grievance was recently filed for loss of On-Call pay. The issue was resolved, and PMC paid RNs for monies lost! Always check your paystubs to make sure you are paid correctly.  

STAFFING ISSUES: Don’t forget to Tiger Text your Nursing Administrators to give them the opportunity to correct the issue in real-time, and take a screenshot of it or print a copy as the text disappears in 5 days!  

CROSS-TRAINING & UNIT “BLENDING”: Recently, PMC unilaterally implemented Cross-Training. The Employer is obligated to negotiate the terms of the training program [compensation, training schedule, backfill, seniority, pulling. A Class Action grievance was filed. 

SELF SCREENING: COVID Self-Screening should be done on work time and on the Employer’s equipment to avoid Wage and Hour & Privacy issues.
