Tell Ohio House Speaker Rosenberger that Fair Districts should include #CongressToo

Last year, Ohio voters overwhelmingly passed new Fair District rules for the state legislature.

Now we need your help to urge Ohio lawmakers to pass Fair District rules for #CongressToo

Join the Fair Districts = Fair Elections Coalition on Thursday, August 18, for a Virtual Lobby Day to call for Congressional Redistricting Reform. Just like a traditional lobby day, we are urging LWVO members and supporters to take action!

Last November, Ohioans overwhelmingly supported state legislative redistricting reform. Issue 1 of 2015 passed by more than 71% and won in all 88 counties. But that was only Part 1, now we need to pass Part 2 to extend new Fair Districts rules to Congress too.

Unfortunately, Ohio House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) has described state legislative and congressional redistricting reform as "apples to oranges" and suggested that Ohioans should wait another decade or more to see how Issue 1 of 2015 works.

Let's remind Speaker Rosenberger that Ohio voters spoke loud and clear last November that we want Fair Districts and urge him to put congressional redistricting reform on next year's ballot. There are already bills pending (SJR2 in the Senate and HJR2 in the House) that the legislature could take up when they return after the election. Ohioans are tired of waiting; we deserve fair districts and elections now.

What will we do on Virtual Lobby Day for Congressional Redistricting Reform?
  1. If you have 5 minutes -- Contact Speaker Rosenberger's office by phone at 614-466-3506 or email Tell him that it's time to end congressional gerrymandering, and as an Ohio voter you want fair districts and fair elections for Congress too.
  2. If you have 10 minutes -- After you take action, forward this to friends and encourage them to call too.
  3. If you use social media -- After you take action, share on social media using the hashtag #CongressToo and inspire others to get involved. Visit for sample Facebook posts and Tweets that you can share.
  4. If you attend candidate forums -- Upcoming candidate nights and forums are great places to ask candidates for state legislature and congress about congressional redistricting reform.
 Thank you for taking action!
