This month, our Drinks & Dialogue program will have presenter Ariel Groner, from the Jupiter Center, talking about youth LGBT issues. The
location for Drinks & Dialogue is on the second floor of Skrine Chops House, 7230 W. Madison, Forest Park. Join us on Thursday, March 30,
from 5:30-7:00pm. Free and open to public.

Oak Park School District #97 Candidates

Our Candidate Forums have been well attended. Whether at the Oak Park Library, Oak Park Township, or Concordia University, members and community people have asked insightful questions and the candidates have been well prepared. If you were not able to attend the River Forest or the Oak Park SD #97 School Board Candidate Forum, you can still watch the videos of the forums on our website. This Tuesday will be the Oak Park Library Board Forum at the Oak Park Township Senior Room, 130 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park. On Monday, March 13, our last forum will be for the Oak Park-River Forest H.S. School Board Candidates at Concordia University. Mark your calendars now.

Members of our Advocacy Committee will be visiting our area legislators in the next few weeks. These are important meetings to let our representatives know our positions on the budget impasse that affect our state's social agencies, in addition to our educational institutions. Besides these face to face meetings, members should be calling their legislators to let them know we need them to work together to solve our state's financial problems. These calls make a difference!

Would you like to learn more about watershed issues? The LWV Lake Michigan has purchased two large table-top watershed models which are fun and help adults and children explore watershed
dynamics.
Chocolate sprinkles for cow poop, Teriyaki Sauce for oil leaks, a green (felt) roof for the school, you will learn how to use the models to show sources of water pollution, as well as solutions.
Once trained, you can borrow and use the model with garden and neighborhood groups, houses of worship, and at community events.
The training will be at Takiff Community Center,
