MAY ORIENTATION WAS A BIG SUCCESS.
Attendees from West Palm Beach
Patti Whitehill (on the right) stepped up to assist Darlene Kostrub in organizing the event.
Thirty-one new members and prospects attended the League Orientation on Saturday, May 4.  One attendee had worked for the United Nations for 30 years. Others included a nurse, a retired Palm Beach State College professor, a federal government policy analyst, a speech pathologist, a teacher, a realtor, a piano teacher, an insurance agent and several snowbirds among others.   Three had been in other League chapters around the country. Virtually everyone left describing the event as incredible, informative and well organized.  They were impressed by the friendliness of the group, the leadership, and the wealth of information shared.  Positivity and energy flowed throughout the room.
If you know of other people who might be interested in knowing more about the League, let them know that the next Orientation is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  For more information, contact Darlene Kostrub at dkostrub@aol.com or 561-852-0496.

LEARN AND UNDERSTAND IMMIGRATION FACTS

Immigration has shaped American history and immigrants are a fundamental part of our social fabric. Yet, popular discourse has painted international migration as a growing concern, nurturing all sorts of anti-immigrant sentiments. Consequently, many of us are divided between appreciating and fearing what immigration has come to represent. The Immigration Committee is working on a series of informative posts about contemporary immigration challenges, and we invite you to think about immigration myths and facts. This month, we will be looking at  immigration and the economy.

THE NEWS IS GROWING AND CHANGING
WE WANT YOUR INPUT

As we prepare to change computer systems in the next few months, we will be changing the News format, as well. Each edition, beginning with June 1, will ask you to answer a question or two about your preferences. Please take the time to answer them.

The staff of the News works diligently to produce a newsletter twice per month to give our members information about their League. We strive to do it in an informative and entertaining manner. We want to give you what you want. We may also send out surveys asking your opinion on different layouts. Please take a few minutes to answer them so we can continue to give you information of interest to you.

Thank you,
Debra Chandler, Editor
