OBSERVER CORPS REPORTS
by Kathryn Gettinger
The Observer Corps needs your help!
Many local meetings were not reported on this month, perhaps due to summer travel. But local governments do not come to a halt over the summer! If you can commit to attending a meeting, or watching online, we need you! Our goal is to ensure the LWV has reports for all areas of the county.
That said, a number of municipalities are covered faithfully and I encourage you to read their interesting reports.

WEARING LEAGUE BADGES AT PARTISAN POLITICAL EVENTS
As the League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization, LWVPBC members should refrain from wearing their League badges or name tags at partisan political events unless they are there in an official capacity for the LWV (ex. conducting a candidate forum, speaking as a member of the Speaker’s Bureau, distributing League literature or publications). This includes but is not limited to political party meetings, political party events, and demonstrations or marches targeting a particular candidate or politician. League members are encouraged to be politically active and to speak and write as informed individual citizens.
|
|
SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE LEAGUE
Only the president or president’s designee speaks on behalf of the League. Individual members may not put forth League positions in public testimony or letters-to-the-editor but may suggest that the president do so. Members are encouraged to speak or write as informed individual citizens.
