Message from the President
It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve as President of the LWVS for the past two years. I have enjoyed working with League members as well as the entire community in an effort to encourage active civic engagement. In what seems to be a polarized and fraught time, it has been very rewarding to work for a nonpartisan organization that promotes voter education and involvement in the larger community. I am especially grateful to our donors, supporters, and volunteers, who continue the strong legacy of the League in Scarsdale.
Warmest regards,
Alissa Baum
LWVS President 2021-2023

We are truly honored and proud to be elected to serve as the Co-Presidents of the League of Women Voters of Scarsdale.
We are thankful to our outgoing President, Alissa Baum. Through her leadership and vision, Alissa took our members through and out of the unknown of lockdown, keeping our community engaged and empowered to identify ways to make change. The LWVS provided a valuable source of information for the community during uncertain times. Whether it was through innovative programs on the suffrage movement and civics education, opportunities for young people to meet legislative officials, Zoom candidate forums to allow voters to see candidates running for office, or frequent communication regarding the ever-changing voting procedures implemented to ensure elections proceeded safely, the League served an important role in keeping residents connected and able to fully participate in civic life. We are indebted to Alissa’s thoughtful sagacity during her tenure as League President.
Though we will be starting as new Co-Presidents, the work of the League will remain the same. The League studies a variety of local, state, and national issues. We will continue to analyze and study the Scarsdale Village and School budgets. Throughout the summer and fall, we will follow and report on developments at the federal and state levels regarding access to the ballot and voter engagement. We will continue to provide engaging speakers and subject-matter experts on a wide variety of relevant topics.
We are looking forward to being a part of this legacy of empowering citizens to participate in government through education and voter service, and we welcome all to be involved and join us at any of our events. Please stay informed of League work and upcoming meetings on our League website.
Thank you for your continued support of the League of Women Voters of Scarsdale.
Warmest regards,
Heedan Chung and Jessica Zellner

Democracy is Not a Spectator Sport – Get Involved!
The League of Women Voters
Creating A More Perfect Democracy For 100 Years
| |
The League of Women Voters of Scarsdale (LWVS) is a volunteer nonpartisan political organization which promotes political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. The League is nonpartisan in that it does not support or oppose any candidate for public office; it is political in that it takes positions on selected governmental issues after serious member study and consensus.
