Otter Bay Marina has confirmed that they will be officially opening their facilities to transient boaters on July 1, 2020.
They also confirmed that they are
accepting reservations NOW
from our Ladysmith Yacht Club members to attend our scheduled club cruise from Friday, September 4 to Monday September 7, 2020.
PLEASE reserve early as there are limited transient slips at this Marina. Please call them at
250-629-3579 to reserve your space asap. Any spaces not booked by
August 20, 2020 will be available to other transient boaters.
During our time at Otter Bay Marina, we will be able to:
- Play bocce ball
- Play ladder ball
- Sit at the fire at night
- Use their grounds for any other games, entertainment, etc.
Unlike last year, Otter Bay Marina will NOT be hosting a dine on the dock BBQ.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and as of June 22, these are the changes they have put in place to keep us all safe (note, there may be changes to this as we get closer to September):
- Their pool is open but those wishing to use it must reserve their time. The maximum persons allowed at one time is 8. The reservation is for a 2-hour use. The pool will close 30 minutes between reservations, so proper cleaning can occur.
- The washrooms are open but only one person at a time can use them. If you see the door is closed, please wait outside until the facility becomes available.
- The Marina Store is open from 9:00-13:00.
- They still have scooter rentals.
- There is a shuttle to the Golf Club. The Golf Club restaurant is open with take out service. Check nearer to our September date if there is dine in service.
- At this time, there are no pick-ups on the roadways and no Island bus service.
- There is a Friday morning fruit/vegetable stand about a 15 minute walk away.
- There is the Saturday market from 9:30-13:00 and it is a 30 minute walk away.
Other Information:
Like many businesses, there are some staffing changes at Otter Bay in recent months. Mark, the Marina Manager, is now retired and has moved to Sidney. Deb and Jim who work in the office and on the docks respectively will be retiring in mid-September, but will be available to meet and help us when we visit the Marina.
I will send a more detailed agenda of activities closer to September.
All in all, I expect we will have another 'magical' weekend at Otter Bay. I look forward to seeing you there.
