During these challenging times, we recognise that communication and 'staying in touch' is more important than ever. We are delivering our services a little differently at the moment, in order to protect our customers’ and colleagues’ health. However, our team is still here to support you however we can. Gardening service update

Our gardening team is back out grass cutting and keeping our estates safe and tidy. They are following social distancing advice and wearing protective equipment. Please help everyone to stay safe and maintain your distance from them too.
Have you been advised to shield or need additional support?

If you have received a letter from the government advising you to shield, please remember to register online at:  https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable and let LYHA know too. Our team has been making calls to customers over the last few weeks but if you are in need of help, and haven't spoken to us yet, please get in touch.

Community Spirit

Amidst all the bad news of late it's been great to hear some wonderful examples of community spirit around our homes and estates, from delivering thank you cards and gifts to key workers, to helping older neighbours with shopping, and volunteering to help at food banks. Thank you.

Sky dishes

We are all spending lots more time at home than usual and completely understand that many people want to enjoy the benefits of satellite television.

If you want to have a Sky dish or upgrade to Sky Q installed at your home, please remember to seek permission first, by completing a tenant improvement works application form:  https://bit.ly/2YaWZme . We will grant permission wherever possible, but some of our buildings do have planning restrictions that need to be fully checked.
Fire safety inspections a year on

It's now over a year since we began our regular fire safety inspections at all schemes with shared communal areas. These include checking the fire detection and warning equipment is working correctly and that all fire doors close fully. During this time our two inspectors, Andy and Graham, have conducted over 3,000 inspections around our estates and communities. Between them they carry out an average of 113 checks a week.

All flats which have a door leading on to a communal area should have a fully working 'door closer' so that when you let go, the door shuts fully. Please contact us if you think any fire doors are not closing properly. Customer safety is paramount at LYHA and we want to do all we can to minimise the risk of fire. You can help us by not storing any items in communal areas (such as prams, bikes, mobility scooters or discarded carpet). Not only could these be flammable, they could also block people's means of escape. If you have any bulky items you want rid of please take them to the tip (once they reopen) or contact your local council. It costs us money to remove such items, which is money we could better spend elsewhere.
