Welcome to what should be an interesting year!

I hope this newsletter finds you hanging in there and getting into the swing of either Remote plus or GOAL.

My name is Crosbie Lind and I will be the president of the PTA this year. I have 3 kids in the Glenview Schools, my oldest is now a 6th grader at Attea and I have a 4th grade boy and a 2nd grade girl. We have lived in Glenview for 7 years.

The Executive board (see below for members) met earlier this month to plan for this year. Our goal for this year is "Staying connected even when apart". While we may not be able to do many of our traditional events we are hoping to build community through new ways. For the past few years our PTA has benefitted from the generosity of our community and this year we will be able to use the money to fund events and not have to worry about fundraising. But with that in mind we want to be good stewards of what we do have and make sure we are prudent in our spending. Please sign up and register for the PTA this year, your contribution is vital to keeping our PTA going strong for future years. Information can be found below about how to register.

If you have not joined our Facebook page Parents of Lyons and Pleasant Ridge please do, as that will be one of the fastest ways for us to say connected. In order to keep communication lines open but be respectful of too many emails, the eblast will be coming out twice a month on Wednesdays. We will be hosting the first general board meeting via zoom at the end of September the meeting dates can be found HERE or at the end of this newsletter

I look forward to working with all of you to make this unique year be the best it can be and a HUGE thank you goes out to the people below who have generously volunteered their time to help make this year successful!!!

Please feel free to reach out to me at crosbielind@gmail.com or lyprpta@gmail.com

LOTS OF CLASSES STILL HAVE NO VOLUNTEERS.

PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING TO BE A ROOM PARENT
The room parents facilitate communication between the homeroom teacher and the parents of the class, disseminate PTA information and events to families and support the homeroom teacher in needs that may arise.

In most years, the room parents plan classroom celebrations and help obtain volunteers for field trips and other events.

The room parents also collect contributions from the class to use for class celebrations, staff appreciation gifts and end of year staff gifts. The PTA is still assessing the need for class funds as the school year and classroom situation develops.

Three ways to support your PTA!
This year we will not be doing much fundraising so every donation we receive makes a great impact. Below are three simple ways you can support your PTA. It's easy to register and help support us!
When you join Heinen's Tasteful Rewards program and select Lyon/Pleasant Ridge PTA we will recieve 1% of all purchases you make. Learn more here.
Simply cut box top labels from everyday products you already have at home. When we are able to be back in school you can send your boxtops to school. Click here for a list of products.
Shop at Amazon and earn money for the PTA. Be sure to use this link to register and select Lyon Pleasant Ridge PTA as your charity.
LY/PR Facebook Groups
If you haven't already please join one of the LYPR Facebook groups! These groups were formed to provide an outlet for parents to ask questions and support each other. You can click the link below to join a group.

PTA Website Calendar
Please go to our PTA calendar located on our website for events planned throughout the year. Relevant events from the Lyon, Pleasant Ridge, and District 34 calendar feeds into the PTA calendar.

We are bummed that we can't plan our usual fun events but will try to do the best we can to stay connected!
