Dear Friends,

As communities throughout Massachusetts reel from the challenges of Covid-19, those who experience discrimination and financial insecurity in the “best of times” are now more vulnerable than ever. The Lenny Zakim Fund will continue to stand with you. We recently announced the 2020 grant recipients to celebrate your work and also to draw attention to our emergency fund mobilation. Listed below you find a few resources, which include several articles and webinars. The first LZF-hosted webinar is on Thursday, April 8th at 11am on Remote Work Tips and Tricks. We will announce more online workshops and seminars in the coming weeks. As always, please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

In Solidarity,

LZF Webinar: Remote Work Tips and Tricks
Remote Work Tips and Tricks
Date: Thursday, April 8th
Time: 11am - 12pm

Facilitator: Maura Ramsey, Executive Director, Groundwork Southcoast

This workshop will provide some basic insights and ideas from the experience of someone who worked at an organization while it transitioned to being fully remote while doing community based organizing and engagement. Topics will include: thinking about how to support meeting participants in Zoom and other video conferencing software, how to supervise staff, cultivate a healthy remote work culture, and work as effectively as is feasible in these uncertain times and to foster the process of shifting programmatic work to a remote platform.

This workshop will cover tips and tricks related to the 4 remote work buckets:

  1. Technology/technical skills; including remote meeting norms
  2. Personal work/impact: What to notice to adjust and balance in remote work when you're used to working in person
  3. Interpersonal/workplace culture: The impact shift from face-to-face to remote with co-workers and supervisees
  4. Programmatic shifts: Identifying the criterion through which decision-making and shifts can be strategically made.

The workshop will have plenty of time for questions and input because we are all learning more about working remotely each day. Please come prepared with questions and examples to share in the chat and/ or to ask out loud!
All LZF seminars are free and open to any staff, board or volunteer at a current or former LZF grantee. Please forward this email to anyone within your organization that may benefit from attending! If you have questions, please contact Dominique at dramos@thelennyzakimfund.org.
