COLLEGE CORNER by Linda Dowley

Linda Dowley is the College Information Specialist at La Jolla High School – a position funded by the Foundation of LJHS.

Please don't forget to visit my Facebook page LJHS College Info and website www.ljhscollegeinfo.com for helpful articles, advice and information!

JUNIORS - Thank you to those who attended the Mock Admissions event last week. The college reps were very impressed and complimentary about how engaged the students were in the discussion and

decision making. Your next opportunity to learn about the college search as well as information about what college is like from a student’s perspective is next Wednesday, May 31, 3:00-4:00 in the library. Recent LJHS alumni will talk about how they searched for colleges and ultimately made their choice, as

well as what they wish they had known when they were in high school and how to have a successful first year in college. Hopefully, 6 th period teachers will release students to attend, but if not, please join us after school in the library.

SENIORS - You are encouraged to attend next week’s College Student Panel where current college students (LJHS alumni) will share insights on the transition to college and share their experiences about how to create a successful first year. And on another topic, with many senior events coming up, please

use good judgement and don’t risk losing any senior privileges – OR having your college acceptance rescinded. Hopefully your classes are wrapping up successfully, but if you are experiencing a dramatic grade drop or are in danger of failing a class, you will need to let your college know. Receiving one “C” is

hardly dire – but a report card full of them, or certainly failing a class could be a problem. Please talk to your counselor if you have questions.
