Mask Ordinance Extended
The La Vista City Council has extended the City’s emergency mask ordinance until May 25.

The ordinance was initially approved in November in response to increased community transmission and confirmed cases of COVID-19.

At this time, COVID-19 remains a serious threat to the health, safety and welfare of the residents of La Vista and the Omaha metro area.

According to a letter to support from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, preventative measures implemented at the end of 2020, such as La Vista’s mask ordinance, have had a positive impact on the number of positive cases as well as hospitalizations.

Continued wearing of face coverings will also help contain the spread of COVID-19 variants found recently in the UK, South Africa and Brazil.

La Vista’s mask ordinance will remain in effect until May 25, unless otherwise cancelled or extended.

Full details about the ordinance and its enforcement can be found on our mask ordinance page.
