LaAmistad's Estrellitas Learn Through Service with Buckhead Christian Ministry
A collaborative effort by some of Atlanta's most engaged advocates for young women, LaAmistad's Estrellitas participants learned through service this month by volunteering their time at the Buckhead THRIFTique , a clothing and furniture thrift store benefiting Buckhead Christian Ministry .

Supported by program founder and 2019 Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under Forty honoree Maria Thacker Goethe , students got to experience the joy of giving back while building valuable interpersonal and project management skills.

Since 2013, LaAmistad has worked directly with the Junior League of Atlanta (JLA) to provide female-focused programming aimed at building and maintaining resiliency, positive self-identity, and high self-esteem. This year, Estrellitas is partnering with Girls Inc. , The JLA, and Sutton Middle School to amplify the reach and impact of this important program. Learn More below!
The 2020 Census: What it Means for Latinos and How You Can Help

As the 2020 Census draws closer, it is increasingly important that our community be informed about its effect on resources, its impact on daily life, and what it means to be counted. With Latinos now the nation’s second largest population group, accounting for one out of every six Americans, accurate data about the Latino community are critical for the economic, social, and civic well-being of our state, our country, and our society as a whole. LaAmistad is proudly partnering with the Latino Community Fund of Georgia to get the word out and encourage the participation of the students and families we serve. Dear LaAmistad family,

English for Successful Living is back and better than ever for the 2020 calendar year! You'll be pleased to know that your ESL team had a very productive recess. We've been working to increase capacity at all sites, engage our amazing new and returning teachers, and establish new policies and partnerships to more effectively serve our students! We are so excited for what is on the horizon this year for LaAmistad ESL, and for the impact we will be able to have on our community. I am honored to work with such an incredible team of site coordinators, volunteers, and staff as we continue to provide our students with the tools to reach their personal, academic and employment goals. Thanks so much for all you do for LaAmistad. It's Time to Nominate YOUR Volunteer of the Year!
LaAmistad is lucky to have some of the most dedicated volunteers in Atlanta supporting its mission. Every minute donated is a building block to a brighter future for the students and families we serve, and we could not be more grateful for your consistent contributions of time and energy.

Each year, during volunteer appreciation month, it is our pleasure to host all of our beloved givers for a morning of celebration, recognition, and fellowship. The Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast is not only one of our dearest organizational traditions, it is also a chance for us to recognize volunteers that routinely go above and beyond for LaAmistad students of all ages.

During the event, volunteer of the year awards are presented to one volunteer from each site as voted on by their peers. Click the button below to see last year's winners, and to nominate YOUR volunteer of the year for '19 - '20!
Board, Staff & Stakeholders Help Plan LaAmistad's Next Chapter
For nearly two decades, LaAmistad has has been committed to improving quality of life for Latino students and families in Atlanta through academic and life enrichment programming. In that time we have grown, we have expanded our service areas, and we have increased our capacity to serve a greater segment of the community. We've accomplished a lot, but there is so much more to be done.

With the help of parents, staff, our stellar board, and an all-star team of community supporters, LaAmistad will be working in the coming months to develop a new five-year strategic plan to drive the organization into the future. We're dreaming big, keeping our community first, and, most importantly, staying true to our mission.

We welcome you to be part of this process by submitting your own ideas and suggestions in writing to [email protected]

LaAmistad's annual Gala is magical. It's inspiring. It's a chance to get dressed up and sip cocktails with friends and colleagues at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. Most importantly, it's a chance for LaAmistad to honor those who make the work we do possible, and to shine a light on some of the heroes of Atlanta's Latino community.

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support last year, we were able to meet our fundraising goal and subsequently serve more students and families than ever before.

This year, we hope you'll join us on September 26th as we aim to do more good, for more people, more often.
