LaAmistad Invites Community of Givers to Celebrate Volunteer Success |

LaAmistad would like to recognize everyone who has helped our Afterschool students and families find success this year. Join us via ZOOM on May 14th for a celebration of how we overcame and triumphed in serving our students, families, and community! The celebration will begin at 3:00pm, and ALL volunteers serving with LaAmistad Afterschool are invited to attend!

LaAmistad's 3 Anímate Summer Academies Aim to Curb Summer Learning Loss |
|
Summer is a time when many students are in need of additional academic support in order to not regress academically. Given the potential for less than optimal outcomes as a result of the pandemic, LaAmistad's upcoming Anímate Summer Academies will be among the most critical in its history. Summer is also a time when families need the most support since the school community is closed until the fall. Each June, LaAmistad, The Westminster Schools and St. Martin's Episcopal School partner together to help continue the academic success of LaAmistad students. This year, LaAmistad is proud to be operating a third Anímate Summer Academy at Peachtree Church in July to help students retain their academic progress and have a memorable summer camp experience.
LaAmistad students are highly encouraged to attend this camp. Campers spend the majority of the day immersed in academic subject areas such as language arts, reading, and math. Students also are able to participate in more traditional summer camp activities like swimming, a variety of sports, and arts and crafts projects.

Afterschool Students Have Fun with S.T.E.M with Help from LaAmistad Intern |

In a virtual tutoring model, LaAmistad Afterschool continues striving to make S.T.E.Mactivities a central facet of it's student-focused programming. Despite the distance from friends, teachers, and classmates, LaAmistad Afterschool students continue to engage in interactive, educational group activities. Centro Catolico Intern Natasha led students in the informative home-project, guiding them every step of the way. We are so proud of all of our Afterschool students for pushing through in these trying times, and so thankful that they can rely on the guidance and expertise of LaAmistad's incredible community of givers.

LaAmistad Partners with Vinings Rotary for Community Impact |

LaAmistad is proud to announce an ongoing partnership with Rotary Club District 6900 to help amplify its impact on the Latino community of Greater Atlanta.
Each year, The Vinings Rotary Charity Fund accepts grant applications for funds generated by the 5K from organizations benefiting children in the Atlanta metro area. LaAmistad is grateful to have been chosen as one of this year's recipients. Funds will be used to further the organization's mission to prepare Latino students and families for success through academic and life enrichment programs.
