Issue 25
March 4, 2019
Dear LaGuardia Families,

Well, that was all a bit too exciting for us - not the most welcome of Snow Days... but LaGuardians are resourceful and creative and we're not about to get derailed by so little white stuff!

Don't miss your chance to sing-along with Broadway performers!  Our Broadway Singalong Annual Benefit has been rescheduled for tomorrow night, Tuesday.  Just think - Broadway performers, here at the school, on-stage with LaGuardia students - pretty amazing!  Please don't miss it!  And if you really want a night out, join us for the After-Party across the street (adults-only) where you can enjoy jazz, cocktails and the Living Sculpture Court!  Tickets still available online until tomorrow at 2:00 PM and then at the door.

Volunteer!  With all these activities, we really need LaG parents who love to help out! This is the week where we need you nearly every single day! We have events every day and could really use some smiling faces.   Please sign-up

Are you still swaying to the sounds of the Senior Jazz Band from last Friday's concert?  Just what was needed for a cold winter evening - warm jazz music from our amazingly talented students!

If you attended the Jazz concert you may have also been on-site for opening night of the Senior Art Show #2.  Please make an effort to stop by and see these works - ongoing thru March 15th!

Last week's  Fiorello Friday  was so great!  The cast of The Mystery of Edwin Drood performed during 1st period in the main lobby to give the students and teachers a preview of the show (see below!) and sold over 25 dozen "Donuts For Drood" - gotta love sugar!  Here are video clips of two songs that are in the show....  Don't Quit While You're Ahead and There You Are!

You'll find more  information on all of these below...
  • Broadway Singalong - TUESDAY, March 5th - RESCHEDULED

The LaGuardia Community has donated
over  $396,932 so far!

What amazing support - last week's 2 Donors Choose Projects have both been fully-funded, due in part to DonorsChoose's generous "boost" day last Thursday when they matched 50% of every donation that was made.

Congratulations to DonorsChoose   on being named to Fast Company's 2019 list of the world's most innovative companies and organizations!

DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.

DonorsChoose donations are eligible for most employers' matching gift programs.

It's Volunteer Week!  We need you every day this week, but will be delighted if you can help out just one!  Please sign-up here!
