Dear LaGuardia Families,
What a great experience - to experience the Arctic without needing to travel anywhere! We hope everyone stayed safe and warm and are more comfortable as the mercury climbs back to more regular winter temperatures if a certain groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil knows what he's talking about...
Today we want to highlight
and give you a peek into what makes the magic that you will see later this week! We also want to remind you and your students about the special workshops focused on
being offered this week for parents and students. Please note that we are no longer carrying all details about outside opportunities for our students in the SNN Newsletter. These have a new home on the
LaGuardia PA website

RISING STARS 2019: THIS IS ME - A JOURNEY
If you haven't yet purchased your tickets, may we suggest that you do right now?
Saturday evening & Sunday afternoon shows are almost sold out
, and the Thursday & Friday shows are well over 80% capacity.
Avoid the online fee by having your student purchase tickets at school. Tickets will also be on sale in the lobby during Monday and Wednesday lunch periods and after school.
Rising Stars one of only two all school productions where students from all studios come together to showcase their talent.
Rising Stars is the PA's largest fundraising event of the year and we count on you to make it a success. We are so very proud and truly floored by the talent, hard work and commitment of our students particularly the student production team. What goes on behind the scenes is incredibly inspiring. Apart from the acts, our outstanding student production team works numerous night and weekend hours with unwavering dedication to excellence. It's LaGuardia kids like these with so much heart that inspire me everyday.
For the second year in a row, we invite you to enjoy a beautiful display of student art in keeping with the Rising Stars theme at every show. Our student art curators will have the display ready for your viewing pleasure in the back lobby. Here is a teaser from the Rising Stars art show.
Studios will be selling merchandise during Rising Stars and it's a great time for everyone to stock up on LaGuardia swag!
Check out some clips from Rising Stars 2018 on our Facebook page (like and share) or on YouTube (like and share) to get a hint of the kind of treat you are in for.
Thank you to the many parents
who have already registered to volunteer for the Rising Stars rehearsals and performances. We still need to fill a few more roles -

AP World History Online Prep Course
My students need the ability to prepare for their AP exam in May in a systematic way. The online and digital platform will allow the students to pace themselves, track their problems, and troubleshoot important issues.
The students will have access to AP materials through an online digital company that will work much like Kaplan or Princeton Review does for college students.
By having the ability to go online, study, get questions answered and having feedback, the student can ask more pointed and directed questions in the classroom, and more reflective questions overall about course content.
DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.
DonorsChoose donations are eligible for most employers' matching gift programs.
