Dear LaGuardia Families,

Some thoughts from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. -
  • Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
  • The time is always right to do what is right.
  • Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?

May we suggest that you choose your favorite and keep it tucked inside of you....

Aren't you glad you got up off the couch and attended the Winter Dance Showcase this weekend? These dancers are talented, creative and incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to study dance each and every day while still in high school. Such a variety of styles and technique showcased in ensembles, solos and even using some of their own choreograpy. Truly amazing.
Congratulations to the students and teachers - and on the off chance that you stayed home or had other plans, look at these pictures of absolute gorgeousness...

Mark your calendars now for their Graduation Dance Concert, which will be May 31 and June 1-2.

Please make a commitment to attend at least 2 performances outside of your studio.  All of our students work incredibly hard on their art and, for performers, there is no reward like playing to a packed house.  Invite your friends and family.  Our students will take your breath away.

What a wonderful tradition - over the course of the next four months, our Seniors will be displaying their works throughout the school... The Senior Art Shows are curated by Seniors and feature artwork by Seniors--come celebrate our talented Art Studio Class of 2019!

The LaGuardia Art Studio welcomes professional artists to come speak to and inspire our hard-working art students. So far this year our visitors have ranged from professional digital printers, mixed media artists, representatives from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), and just this week, commercial digital photographer Maciek Jasik. Our Advanced Photography students loved listening to Maciek speak about his experiences as a photographer and the various techniques he uses to achieve the greatest impact with each piece. If you or anyone you know is a professional artist who would like to visit our studio, please contact the Art PA Reps at: .

We had very high attendance and support at the Semi-Annual Art Show that just ended today.  It's been a pleasure entering the building and see so many amazing works of art displayed - you know it's not just any high school!

What a success !  Together our school donated 500 pounds of much-needed food for our City's  residents (1.2 million) who are considered 'food insecure' and are facing hunger this winter season.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to send in a donation and to the students in Arista and Archon who coordinated the drive.

It's the perfect time to go Fooding at Fairway and stock up on comfort food that's both healthy and satisfying! You can even win a $100 Fairway Gift Card in our exclusive Community Partners contest! Please scroll down for more information.

The LaGuardia Community has donated
over  $386,663 so far!

Our parents and friends are amazing - thank you for responding to each and every project
that our teachers have posted!

We know of several teachers who have upcoming projects, but for now - LaGuardia is fully-funded!  Please keep an eye out for the next opportunity to help one of our teachers and by extension, our students!

DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.

DonorsChoose donations are eligible for most employers' matching gift programs.

Did you make a New Year's Resolution to become more involved with LaGuardia?  Great - we're looking forward to having you join us!  If you can't attend the meetings, not a problem - we're confident we'll find a way to use your talents!
Please email -
