Issue 38
June 9, 2019
Dear LaGuardia Families,

Such an impressive way to conclude our 2018-2019 school Show Season! The Semi-Annual Art Show's opening reception and the Semi-Annual Symphony Orchestra & Senior Chorus performances were both true representations of the talent and hard work of each respective studio's students. We're so proud of you and appreciative of the tech crew and faculty's dedication to these performances.

We truly are in the final few weeks of school and with that in mind, here are some housekeeping tips to ensure everything goes smoothly!

Regents Exams - Tuesday, June 18th thru Tuesday, June 25th
Morning Regents Exams Doors to the school will open at 7:30 a.m. Students are allowed to go to their lockers and to the cafeteria where breakfast will be served.
Afternoon Regents Exams:  Students should arrive at school between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. When students finish their exam, they will be directed to leave the building via the closest stairwell, quietly. If a student is meeting friends after a Regents exam, they should make plans and choose a meeting place OUTSIDE of the school building.

Locker Clean-Out!
Students are reminded to start clearing out their lockers now. By Monday, June 17, all belongings and locks must be removed from the lockers. On Monday, June 17 the school will start removing locks and disposing of any locker contents. If you leave your lock behind, you will have to purchase a new lock in September.

Need more Dance?!

Do you feel like you didn't get enough of the senior dancers and the senior jazz band at last weekend's dance concert?
DVDs of the 2019 Graduation Dance Concert are available for $30 cash.  Have your student place your order and bring payment to Ms. Mathesius in the dance studio by Thursday, June 13.

Our alumni (and parents) are all over the
2019 Tony Awards!
Congratulations to Lilli Cooper (LaG '08) for her Best Featured Actress nomination for "Tootsie," which received 11 nominations! LaG parent Paula Leggett Chase is also in the ensemble.

DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.
DonorsChoose donations are eligible for most employers' matching gift programs.
