Community Building: Our Goal -- Sold Out Concerts Across Studios This Year!

Were you one of the lucky ones in the audience at Friday's Senior Jazz/Symphonic Band Concert? What a gorgeous evening of music created by our students!   Our students played to a SOLD OUT AUDIENCE and all of our kids deserve that.  All our kids work so very hard and one of the best experiences we can give them is the chance to perform to a full house. We were thrilled to see strong school wide support for our first concert! It strengthens our community and brings students, parents, friends and families together.  The talent in all of the studios will inspire you. Please commit to treating yourself to as many performances outside of your studio as possible this year. Support all LaG performances!!"

FUNDRAISING AND PARENT INVOLVEMENT
LAGUARDIA PA ALL-SCHOOL APPEAL

It's honestly not how much you can give, but just that you participate in the All-School & Studio Appeal. Our goal is 100% participation -- and so it is vital that every family contribute something.

The education our children are receiving at LaGuardia is so unusual, and the dual curriculum of academic and arts incurs additional costs. Together we can support our students' training in what they love.

Launch Mr. Rahman's class into the 21st Century with Whiteboards for student projects.
Mr. Rahman's Chemistry students need whiteboards for group-work activities and study guides to deepen their learning. When students work on questions from the study guide together, using the whiteboards to solve them, they can easily present work to the whole class using wireless pointers and share strategies for real problem solving.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!

DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.

In the past three years, 100% of our faculty's requests have been funded by parents and other generous supporters.

DonorsChoose donations are eligible for most employers' matching gift programs. bit.ly/dcmatch

COLLEGE CORNER
Parents of Seniors and Juniors, this section is packed with information to help you and your child navigate the college appplication and financial aid process.
Attention Parents of Seniors:

FAFSA and CSS Profile Applications are Online. T hese are the two primary financial aid application sites used by colleges and universities.

All families with seniors attending college in the fall of 2019 and applying for need based aid and/or loans from the federal government, need to submit the FAFSA.   NOTE: the Deadline for submitting FAFSA for Early-Decision or Early-Action applications may be as early as is November 1. Check the websites of the schools your student is applying to.

Be sure to go directly to the government website to fill in your FAFSA application -- any website that asks for fees to fill in your application is not a trustworthy site.

Go to  fafsa.gov to fill in your form. Click here for helpful information on filling out the form.

See also the  CSS application  from the College Board.
Senior Parents, be sure your student is using Naviance. If they have not signed up, they will be at a major disadvantage in terms of getting updates, newsletters, recommendations and other help from the guidance department. Junior families should also be signing up for Naviance now to get notices from the guidance department.

Please contact Allison Price, our Parent Coordinator, for PupilPath and Naviance log-in information. APrice7@schools.nyc.gov
