LA HIMSS Winter 2023 Newsletter

President's Message

The Louisiana chapter of HIMSS is having an incredible year! We are thrilled to see so many members of our health IT community taking advantage of our events, which offer the chance to network and learn the latest in our field. We look forward to continuing to serve our health IT community in the coming months and hope to see you at our next event!

In just one week we will be gathering in Mississippi for our 10th annual Gulf Coast 3 (GC3) Conference to be held at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi on November 15-17th.

Louisiana HIMSS along with Mississippi, and Alabama have worked together to plan this multi-state event. This is an exciting opportunity for networking and education with leading healthcare professionals and executives from across the Gulf Coast region. See below for more information and register today.

As you may know, our organization relies on volunteers to make all our activities possible. We welcome new members and fresh ideas to our board. Whatever your interests or specialty, we hope you will consider engaging with us. We're excited to hear from you and look forward to working together to advance healthcare technology. Please email us at LouisianaHimss@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to learn more about how you can get involved.

2023 LA HIMSS Fall Event

Recap

LA HIMSS has had a busy and productive fall season, with a variety of events that brought together healthcare professionals from across the state. In Baton Rouge, we hosted a lunch and learn event featuring Tom Gilmore from Google, who spoke about the latest developments in AI and their applications in healthcare. Meanwhile, in New Orleans and Bossier City, we welcomed Jeff Hendriske from Cannon Medical to discuss the use of AI in radiology.

In celebration of Global Health Equity Week, we held our first Health Equity Symposium at UNO in New Orleans, which brought together area industry experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities in achieving health equity. The symposium was well attended both in person and online. We look forward to future events that continue to promote collaboration and innovation in healthcare. The event will be posted soon on our Louisiana Chapter of HIMSS YouTube site: LA HIMSS YouTube
