A few years ago, several students gathered to discuss ways to improve their overall experience at LaSalle. One theme emerged as top of mind for them all; find a way to spend more meaningful time with family during their visits to campus. Thanks to the support of the Carl E. Touhey Foundation and M&T Bank, the idea became a reality. The former Enhanced Support Unit (ESU) was converted and in October 2024 the FEC opened its doors.
The FEC provides a two-bedroom apartment with private bath, kitchen, and dining area. Families may use the Center for a few hours, a day, or overnight. While visiting, families are welcome to watch a movie, prepare a meal, do arts and crafts, play games, or relax on the couch. to provide a private, homelike space for youth and families enrolled in our Residential Treatment Program to enjoy quality time together.
See the transformation of the Family Engagement Center.
