This school year is "UP, UP, AND AWAY!" . Thank you for entrusting your children to King Schools. Our schools are off to a great start because of each of our parents and students!

We will commemorate the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 4, 2023. School will reopen on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Please make certain that your child completes all home assignments.

Importance of Homework

Many students are doing their homework every night. However, there are also a

significant number of students who are not doing their assignments. This concerns me greatly. Homework is a part of your child's grade. In an effort to get all of the students to do homework and to assist parents in monitoring assignments, we have organized the homework so that it is "crystal clear" what is expected. At the elementary level, we have assigned certain subjects on particular days.

Please click this link for the schedule.

Please visit our website at www.drkingcharterschool.org for information regarding our elementary school homework policy.

Hopefully this will help students and parents in our community in an effort of increasing student achievement.

FOKS SCHOOL DISTRICT will commemorate the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 4, 2023. School will reopen on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Literacy Corner Early literacy is everything children should know about reading and writing before they can actually read or write. Literacy skills begin developing in the first 5 years of life with a toddler holding and chewing on a book, to wanting a favorite book read over and over, to becoming a preschooler or kindergartner who loves to “read” a story to you from memory. Our librarian, Mrs. G. Romero understand the importance of early literacy skills and she is getting our students excited about reading. Students visiting the library have been reading, "Chocolate Me" by author Taye Diggs.

Pink and Blue: Rep which career is best for you!

PRE-K thru 3rd grade parents don't forget about the special Parade of Careers activity happening on September 7, 2023.

We are hosting a Barbie and Ken Career Day. Please see the flyer.

If you have not rsvp'd please email IBREW@MLKNOLA.ORG or RMARTIN@MLKNOLA.ORG .

We hope all students will participate in this activity.

Increasing the rigor of courses taken in high school is a crucial part of our students' success. Mr. Rob, Biology Teacher, believes in classroom participation. He stated, "Taking challenging classes in high school is a great way to build new skills. It will serve you well when you get to college because you'll be more prepared for the work."

Students listen intently in Mr. Ussin's Chemistry class. Our Jaguars are intentional about their studies. Our students are focused and understand the grounding that chemistry can give you. Many of our Jaguars will be furthering their studies in a STEM field such as biology, geology, physics, or engineering.

Shine the Light on Our Staff

In a recent trip to McDonald's a fellow colleague was in line ordering nearly $70.00 worth of meals for her students. When asked, was it for a special project, she replied, " my students missed their lunch period, so I m buying their lunch."

FOKS is proud to highlight the dedication of Mrs. Tracy Brown.

Come out and support the Jaguars as we play Crescent City on tomorrow.

Our Jaguars are superb!

'IT 'AINT BRAGGING IF ITS TRUE."
