Zoom Practice Partners Needed
Instructors are preparing to teach via Zoom this year, and would like to hone their skills with live participants, AKA Zoom Practice Partners or ZPPs. ZPPs will have the double benefit of improving your own comfort with taking classes on Zoom, while helping OLLI instructors practice. Do you have 30 to 45 minutes you can spare to help out?
There are three opportunities to be ZPPs this week:
If you are interested and available to be a Zoom Practice Partner for any of these sessions, click on the instructor’s email and let the instructor know you’d like to be a ZPP.
The Zoom invitation link for that session will be emailed to you directly by the OLLI instructor.

Potential Instructors: Sample a Fall Course
|
|
While course proposals for winter term are due by September 27, the Curriculum Committee encourages instructors to submit proposals as early as possible. The deadline extension leaves only a short turnaround time to meet the catalog publication deadline.
If reservations about teaching via Zoom are making you hesitate, take advantage of this extension to participate in a fall class as a student. See for yourself how successful and enjoyable online courses can be, and get tech support with any technical challenges you face. In the meantime, you may want to consider signing up to be a ZPP (see above) for another instructor's practice session. It's an informal opportunity to see how they plan on using Zoom to teach and learn from their practice class.
And please keep in mind that online teaching is not a leap without a parachute: there’s plenty of assistance available to help instructors adapt to new methods. Click here to submit a winter course proposal by September 27.
OLLI students are the most motivated to learn.

Add A Class / Invite a Friend / Drop A Class
|
|
This is a great week to take another look at your schedule for fall term. If you're wondering which courses still have room for more students, you can download the Course Registration Report (PDF). You'll find it on the Catalog page just above the Course Categories list. There are so many classes still available, thanks to Zoom and the willingness of OLLI's fabulous volunteer instructors. Invite a friend or family member to sign up to take a class with you. Learning together is a great way to connect, and it's fun. If you need to drop a class, please email the OLLI office ( [email protected]) with DROP and the course name in the subject line.

Member-to-Member Remote Tech Support
|
|
Member-to-member tech support is again available thanks to OLLI volunteers. We know many members are learning to connect remotely to take OLLI courses or to meet up with friends and family online while we stay safe and save lives at home. Some of OLLI’s tech savvy members have volunteered to provide some tech support to help members get connected. If you would like help with getting up to speed online, click here to submit a request for tech support. and we will connect you with a Tech Support volunteer.
Please note: While volunteers will offer support to the best of their ability remotely, we cannot guarantee that every issue will be solved successfully. Please keep in mind that this process can require time and patience, too.
