Easton Farmers' Market is on the Move!
Join us this Saturday SEPTEMBER 4th
at Hugh Moore Park
(for one day only)
Well, it looks like 2021 is full of more surprises. As I type this newsletter, Easton is being pounded with driving rain, and the threat of river flooding continues to rise. As a city at the confluence of two rivers we are no stranger to flooding. But, like our farmers, we always hope for the best. We're praying that everyone stays safe, any damage is minimal, and that any flood waters will recede by Saturday, allowing us all to make our trek to Hugh Moore Park. We will of course, keep you posted of any changes.
Provided all goes according to plan, here are the details:

FRESH PICKS OF THE WEEK
From the Field
Apple Ridge Farm

This weekend Apple Ridge will be featuring their famous naturally grown potatoes. ROAST them, BAKE them, TOSS them in salad, or SMASH them to PERFECTION for the LABOR DAY weekend!
Salvaterra's Gardens
You can count on Matt and Jess to be at market with another jam-packed, summer- fall line-up, including their organic apples!

Look for lettuce mix, arugula, kale (green curly, red curly, tuscan), collards, head lettuce (red leaf, green leaf), scallions, red beets, tomatoes, green cabbage, onions (red, sweet walla walla), cucumbers, red potatoes, gold potatoes, slicing tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cocktail tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini (green, yellow), cilantro, parsley, basil, dill, leeks, poblanos, jalapeños, bell peppers (red, orange, yellow) and sweet Italian frying peppers (red and yellow), apples and pears.
Cabbage Throw Farm
Cabbage Throw Farm is ready for a sunny weekend! It is the perfect time to enjoy some of the last of this summer's vegetables in a colorful roasted eggplant salad. In the oven or on the grill, roast chopped eggplant, colored sweet peppers, roma tomatoes, summer squash, and shallots. Mix together with steamed green beans, olives, fresh minced garlic, chopped celery leaves, salt, pepper and your favorite herbs and enjoy warm or at room temperature. Cabbage Throw will have all those summer veggies plus kale, chard, fennel, summer crisp lettuce, carrots, beets, celery, turnips, cabbage, shishito peppers and more, including Comeback Farm certified organic peaches and pears.
Phillips Farm
Celebrate Sunflower Day with Phillips Farms at Hugh Moore Park this Labor Day weekend! Phillips Farms is your one-stop shopping destination for all your picnic favorites.

Fruit available at Phillips this week: seedless grapes, raspberries, blackberries, seedless watermelon, Sugar Cube cantaloupe, peaches, nectarines, plums, Bartlett pears, Asian pears and new crop apples (Honeycrisp apples will make their first appearance this weekend).

Don’t miss out on peak-season veggie favorites: Jersey tomatoes, sweet corn, zucchini, green beans, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, lettuce, bok choy, carrots, kale, beets, onions, garlic and more.
Scholl Orchards
Ready for a little crunch? Zestar, Honeycrisp, and Ginger Gold apples have arrived to usher in the Fall fruit season at Scholl's. But peaches are still in full swing - both white and yellow. Along with nectarines, plums. cantaloupe, watermelon and lots of veggies! Don't miss Scholl's glorious rainbow of peppers. Great for freezing for winter chilis.

***SUMMER PEACH SPECIALS CONTINUE***
All quarts of freestone peaches ($7) and Half Pecks ($13) will be Buy One, Get Second One Half Price! Check out half bushel pricing for canning too.
Twin Maple Farms
Because we know you can't get enough sweet corn, try this yummy recipe for Cheesy Corn Fritters!
Holy Cow Farm
It's sunflower week at the Easton Farmers Market, and Holy Cow Farm will be bringing some beauties! They grow a range of different sunnies, from single stem to branching, large to small, brown centers to green centers. There are so many fun varieties to choose from! Sunflowers look great on their own, but farmer Jenn particularly likes to pair them with bright red cockscomb celosia for a simple and bold arrangement. Be sure to check them out this weekend at Hugh Moore Park!
Pasture Raised
Raspberry Ridge Sheep Creamery

Celebrate Labor Day with grilling cheese! Rob is featuring halloumi sheep cheese, a cheese from Cyprus that you can cook on the grill or fry in a skittle. A cousin to feta cheese, you can grill halloumi until it is golden brown and serve it on a salad.

My favorite halloumi recipe is to simply cube the cheese in 1/2" cubes and grill or cook in olive oil until just golden. Then mix with chopped watermelon and fresh mint. Enjoy!

Rob is also bringing other sheep milk cheeses - manchego, feta, and spreadables. And of course yogurt. Try his new blueberry yogurt smoothie!
Breakaway Farms

Breakaway Farms introduces their September 'Sausage of the Month:' Italian Summer Grillers.

They start with their Pasture-Raised Pork and standard Sweet Italian Sausage recipe and amp it up with Lemon Zest and White Wine to bring you a refreshing summer sausage just in time for Labor Day weekend! (These really are fabulous)

Order online (breakawayfarms.net) by 1pm on Friday or visit us at market this week!

Botanicals
Teels Hill Soapworks
Love the fresh scent of limes? Try one of Susan's lime soaps. Bay Lime reminds me of the Gentleman's cologne Bay Rum. This one is scented with lime and bay, with a touch of clove - warm and spicy. Other soaps with Lime essential oils are Island Earth (with lime and vetiver with a swirl of Sandalwood powder) and Lemon Lime.
