The NLTA is pleased to let members in Labrador know that retroactive Labrador Benefits Allowances owing from the recently signed Labrador Benefits Agreement will be paid on September 18, 2025.
As we have previously communicated, the new Labrador Benefits Agreement was ratified by all parties covered by this contract in June 2025. The new Agreement is a four year deal, and includes:
- Increases in the single and dependent rates for the Labrador Allowance and Travel Allowance for all communities;
- The definition of a “dependent” has been further broadened with respect to disabled children between the ages of 18 and 24 who are living at home; and,
- There is an additional paid day (non cumulative) for medical leave in the event the employee or a dependent child is required to travel for medical care that is not available in Labrador.
