Dear Britt,

God is on the move. I was deeply encouraged by last week. We were blessed to dedicate eight families and their children to the Lord. It is my hope that our community will be a place that children love to go to church. Thank you for choosing to be a place where children can learn about Jesus and know that they are deeply loved.

This week I am going to be teaching through the 10 plagues that God used to deliver His people from Egypt. These powerful acts of God were a sign to His power and majesty, and they were intended to reveal that our God is the one true God, the only one who can save. I hope you can join me.

I encourage you to continue to pray for peace in Israel. The stories of pain and suffering have been shocking. As you may know, my father has been in Tel Aviv since the beginning of the conflict. He is hoping to return on Thursday if the airports reopen. He has shared with me many heartbreaking stories but also has had opportunities to share his hope in Christ in the middle of the conflict. Thank you for your prayers.

See you Sunday,

P.S. thank you to everyone who has been praying for my father as he was stranded in Tel Aviv. We received news he was able to board an airplane to Paris and will be headed home. We are so grateful for all your prayers and concern and are grateful God has provided a way for him to return safely.

October Prayer Focus

During the month of October our prayer emphasis focuses on the persecuted church. Please pray for the more than 350 million Christians around the world who suffer extreme persecution and discrimination for their faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for organizations like Open Doors and Global Christian Relief that strive to raise awareness, prayer, and support for the persecuted church worldwide. Pray for the secret churches that continue to meet faithfully together even in the midst of tragic consequences if caught. Pray for their protection, continued faith, and boldness in proclaiming Him to a lost and dying world.

The Bridge is a great place to serve!

TEW Message

Proverbs 3:9-10 (ESV) says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”

God’s word teaches us that when we honor Him first with our resources, He will bless us. This blessing is not just to provide for our needs, it also allows us to give more back to His Kingdom.

Your tithes and offerings to First Baptist allows the many ministries to keep going strong in order to reach more people for Christ. Thank you for your generous stewardship by faithfully giving of your firstfruits so we can see lives changed for eternity in Spartanburg and around the world.

As you think about your financial stewardship, here are a couple of the many options you can consider:

  • You can always give online, but if you are unable to attend on Sunday morning and don’t wish to give online, you can mail your gift to 250 East Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29306.

  • You can also stop by the church during office hours throughout the week and securely leave your gift in the drop box at the welcome center.

TEACH A DEAF CHILD THE LOVE OF GOD!

Do you know American Sign Language? Do you love serving in the Woodlands? We have a deaf student and we need more people to serve on Sunday mornings to interpret at 9:00 a.m. and/or 10:30 a.m.

This is a beautiful opportunity to serve and share the gospel in another language! According to Mosaic there are an estimated 250 million deaf people in the world. Only 2 % are Jesus followers! Who will this little girl grow up to be, and how will she impact the world for Christ?

You can make a difference!

If you are interested in serving once or twice a month, please contact Kay Edwards at kedwards@fbs.org or 864-699-4314.
