Motivated by You. Delivering for You. Committed to You.
Dear Friends of District 8,

In honor of Women’s History Month, we are celebrating the accomplishments of women globally and working locally to unlock the full potential of women and girls in Miami-Dade County.

In 2015 Miami-Dade was the first county in the nation to pass an ordinance embodying the spirit of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW. This legislation requires that we monitor comprehensively the status of women and girls in three important areas: health and safety, economic development and educational attainment. It is clear that we have much farther to go to close the gender wage gap, reduce violence against women, and end sexual harassment and assault. Please join us in pushing for passage of my legislation that requires updating our County’s sexual harassment policies and stay tuned for more opportunities to promote gender equity.

I am fully committed to working alongside the Commission for Women, Women's Fund, League of Women Voters, Junior League, Florida Association of Women Lawyers, YWCA and others to find the best pathway to promoting women's equality. We need your support and want your ideas. Together, we can unleash women's full potential at every level.

As always, the District 8 Team is available to serve you. Reach out to us at  district8@miamidade.gov; call us at 305-375-5218 or 305-378-6677; chat with me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Yours for an equitable District 8,
Daniella Delivers

Improving Transit & Government Accountability
On March 6 the Board of County Commissioners unanimously passed my legislation requiring the Mayor to inform the Board prior to making any transit service reductions or fee changes. This is part of my ongoing effort to ensure County government is open and accountable to residents, and that public transit is being improved, rather than diminished. Read more.
Protecting South Dade
The Board of County Commissioners also passed my legislation directing the Mayor to evaluate the long-term policing strategies for South Dade . I co-sponsored this bill with Commissioner Dennis C. Moss to address the tremendous population growth in South Dade and to ensure that the Miami-Dade Police Department has the resources it needs to provide adequate public safety. Read more.

Demanding Greater Gun-Safety & School Security
For far too long, our communities have been ripped apart by gun violence while our local governments have their hands tied by the state legislature by laws preventing local law-making.. On February 21 I joined five South Dade municipal mayors in urging the Florida Legislature and other officials to enact common sense gun-safety and school security measures . Read more.
