After a great week of practice, the program received unfortunate news on Friday.
In a 5-4 vote, the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Executive Board voted to cancel the winter sports season.
The AIA had already delayed the start of the season to January 18th, but ultimately decided to cancel basketball, soccer, and wrestling in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Though, after much pushback from parents, players, coaches, and others in the state, the AIA has decided to reconvene this Tuesday to reconsider their decision.
At this time, program pictures are still scheduled for tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
Players are asked to only wear black accessories (undershirts, headbands, kneepads, etc.) and white socks.
Practice on Tuesday, as of right now, will still happen as normal.
Be on the lookout for an email containing information about a virtual parent meeting for this Thursday, where we will be discussing the AIA's coming decision on winter sports.
Fingers crossed for good news!
