Employer Seminar Series
Through the Town of Ladysmith’s CommUNITY Together to End Poverty Hw-nuts’-ulwum (as one) project in partnership with the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce, we will be hosting a four-part seminar series for employers, businesses and organizations in the Ladysmith/Stz’uminus area and we invite you to share when you would be most available through this survey.
These sessions aim to offer training, education, and support to reduce barriers when recruiting, hiring, and retaining people who are earning a low income and/or seeking employment. Each seminar may include a guest/panel speaker(s) to share stories and expertise with an opportunity for discussion.
Funding for this has been made possible through provincial poverty reduction planning & action funds awarded to the Town of Ladysmith. Thank you!

The Ladysmith Arts Council Needs Our Help!
Art is such an integral part of a community, and having a dedicated space for teaching and creating is critical and makes a world of difference.
The Arts Council of Ladysmith is raising funds for a classroom/office space. This January, they will be told how much longer they have at the school. They are frantically looking for space and raising funds to keep arts education alive in our community.
Spread the word and encourage others to support the Ladysmith Arts Council.

BC Chamber: Securing Small Business Rebate
Recognizing the increased costs to businesses due to property crime and vandalism in rural and urban communities across the province, the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation has launched its $10.5 million Securing Small Business Rebate Program, which will provide small businesses with funds for eligible commercial property crime and vandalism repairs, or to implement eligible preventative measures.
The BC Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, will administer the rebate program and leverage its provincial network of 100 chambers of commerce and boards of trade and its myriad industry partners, including Business Improvement Associations, to ensure businesses from every sector and region of the province are aware of the rebate.
Timeline:
The application portal will launch on November 22, 2023 and remain open until January 31, 2025.

Town adding new feature to Transfer Beach Amphitheatre
The Town of Ladysmith is receiving funding from the Island Coastal Economic Trust (ICET) to add a temporary saddlespan tent at Transfer Beach Amphitheatre, further enhancing our current community events and supporting visitor attraction.
The $50,000 grant through ICET’s Community Placemaking Program will fully fund the purchase of the new outdoor public amenity.
Due to the unique design and versatility, the saddlespan tent can be configured as a shade cover, allowing for uninterrupted views of the Ladysmith Harbour, or as a stage backdrop for concerts.
Town of Ladysmith Council Meetings: Ladysmith Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted on our Council Minutes, Agenda and Video page. For full schedule and info click here.
