Update from the Chamber & Visitor Centre
|
As the summer holidays wind up and everyone changes gears to the next season, there is change at the Chamber as well.
On August 16th Millie Stirling, resigned from the position of Executive Director of the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce. In her 2 years at the Chamber, Millie was instrumental in connecting people, advocating for business, helping to organize business/fundraising events put on by the Chamber and was active in the community. Millie will stay on as a Director on the Board and stay involved in the conversion of the old Train Station to the new Visitors Center which is in the very beginning stages.
"I am very appreciative of all the "heart" work that Millie has put into her job over the past 2 years and the contributions she has made on behalf of the Chamber" says Cheri Mactier, Board President. "Millie will be greatly missed and we wish her all the very best in her future endeavours."
Roberta Bowman will become the new Ladysmith Chamber Executive Director starting on October 3. Roberta brings with her a real passion for the Chamber of Commerce Organization and over 15 years of experience.
The Chamber is grateful for your continued support. As we embark on new initiatives and challenges, we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. We look forward to our continued collaboration and are eager to see what we can achieve together in the future.
We will be hosting a Open House in October
to wish Millie the best and meet Roberta.
Stay tuned for details!

Your voice matters! Take the Impact of Cost Increases on Business Survey
|
Has your business been impacted by employer-paid sick leave, Employer Health Tax, and minimum wage increases in B.C.?
The BC Chamber of Commerce is conducting a survey to gauge the Impact of Cost Increases on Business, and we would like to hear from you.
At the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce, we strongly advocate for creating a favourable business environment by lowering the costs of doing business in British Columbia. Taxes, fees, benefit programs and government regulations represent a significant portion of the costs businesses face. Therefore, we are keen to understand the impacts (if any) of employer-paid sick leave, Employer Health Tax, and the increase to the minimum wage, which have all been implemented by the provincial government in recent years.
Your participation in this survey is vital to inform our advocacy efforts to advance B.C. businesses’ interests. By providing your perspectives, you will play an integral role in shaping a business-friendly landscape in British Columbia.
The survey will take approximately 8 minutes to complete and will be open from September 5 to 15, 2023, at 4.00 pm (PT).
Together, we can pave a future where businesses prosper, families thrive, and communities flourish. Thank you for your time and input.
