Many employers in BC might need more time before they are ready to recall employees laid off due to COVID-19If you expect your business will have temporary layoffs longer than 24 weeks on August 30, you need to apply to the Employment Standards Branch to further extend the layoff. You must apply by Aug. 25 for the extension. Failure to apply will constitute termination of inactive employees, and you will need to pay severance. https://bit.ly/2E0Eysm

Small Businesses have been hit hard. The Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Centre, the Ladysmith Downtown Business Association and the Art Council of Ladysmith have partnered to help small business in the downtown core drive revenue. This initiative is being made possible by a grant from the Town of Ladysmith. Thank you!

CRA extends
payment deadlines to
September 30th
The CRA is extending the payment due date for current year individual, corporate and trust income tax returns, including instalment payments, from September 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020. 
The CRA is also waiving interest on existing tax debts related to individual, corporate and trust income tax returns from April 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020 and from April 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 for goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) returns.
