Girls take on Takoma at home on Wednesday 2/15 at 4PM
What a season for the Lafayette Bears Boys and Girls Basketball Teams. Under the leadership of Coach Johnson, Coach Hover, Coach McCants and Coach Jordan, and thanks to a talented squad of players, both teams had excellent seasons and are headed to the Region B play-offs. The Girls finished the regular season with a 6-1 record and are seeded #2 in the play-offs. They will play the third seed and last year's City Champions, Takoma, on Wednesday 2/15 at Lafayette.
The Boys team started their season a little slower but have closed very strong with a 6-2 record earning them a spot in the play-offs as well where they are seeded #3. They still have one more regular season game on Tuesday 2-14 at Lafayette versus rival Murch and will play #2 seed Shepherd in the first round of the play-offs which are not scheduled yet for the boys.
Both teams attribute part of their winning formula to the great Lafayette Bears fans, mascot bear Laffy and our wonderful new Bears Arena. We encourage all Lafayette students and parents to come out this week to make signs and some make noise to cheer the teams on to victory.
The Bears Arena will be rocking this week from Tuesday through Thursday with some huge games.  On Tuesday, the Lafayette Bears Boys team will finish out their season against rival Murch in a Valentines Day classic starting at 4PM in the Bears Arena. Wednesday the Girls play their first play-off against Takoma at 4PM and on Thursday, basketball fans will get to see Girls Tournament #1 seed Hearst take on #4 seed Eaton at 4PM.

Lafayette Commemorative Bricks Installed!
Our commemorative Lafayette bricks have been installed in front of the school's main entrance!  Please stop by to see our newly decorated walkway. Thank you to all the parents
and community members who purchased these bricks and helped support Lafayette.
A special thank you to the following: our incr edible volunteer brick chair Sonya Matza, Alan Skelly and the team at Olde Mill Impressions for their patience and careful work engraving our bricks, HSA Co-President Chris Lisi who shepherded the program from start through installation, Jason Skelly and his team from 1-Stop Residential who stepped up to help us install the bricks when our original plans fell through, George Young and his custodial team for all their work moving the bricks around, and our dedicated Lafayette Administration team.
If you missed the chance to buy a brick in the fall, do not despair. We are opening up the brick program for the spring, from now through spring break. Look for the order forms on line here or coming home in your child's folder.  It's a great way to honor grads, dads, moms and teachers and staff members who have made a difference in your life.
