KEEPING OUR COAST BEAUTIFUL

Coastal Cleanup Day was a great success last weekend! Over 40 enthusiastic volunteers joined us at the Laguna booth, helping to collect around 150 pounds of trash from Hammond's, Miramar, and Fernald Point beachesthanks in part to one particularly heavy item! A huge thank you to Allison Armstrong, Kevin Valdez, Katie Pointer, and Laguna Parent Molly Ghoussias for their coordination and support in making this event happen!

THANK YOU TO THE FAMILY ASSOCIATION FOR A DELIGHTFUL BREAKFAST!

We give our heartfelt appreciation to the Family Association for the beautiful and bountiful breakfast spreads on both campuses Wednesday morning! Your generosity and support truly brightened our faculty and staff’s day. Our hearts are full!

COMMUNITY UPDATE: PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING ABOUT ENROLLMENT INCREASE

Yesterday, a Planning Commission hearing was held to discuss Laguna’s request to increase the student capacity at our Hope Ranch campus. The primary concern was the potential traffic impact on surrounding residents, with additional discussion about whether our proposal falls under CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) requirements. The commissioners praised the presentations from both sides, but no final decision was made. The hearing has been continued to December 4, at which time we will revisit the issue and work toward a resolution. We will share updates as they become available. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Join our panel on Monday, September 30 from 6-7:30PM in the library in Hope Ranch to learn how to effectively address student mental health and learning needs after an ADHD diagnosis. Experts will offer practical strategies and resources for educators and parents to support students' well-being and academic success. Our panel consists of two guest speakers, author and speaker Kristina Kuzmic, and Psychologist Dr. William Lacey, alongside LBS School Counselor Kim Valentine and LBS Director of Academic Services Collene Pavlics. Don’t miss this essential discussion on empowering students to overcome challenges and thrive. Learn more about our panelists here!

A TURNING POINT: THE PUSH-PULL OF TECH IN OUR KIDS' LIVES

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10 | 5PM PST

Over the past few months, there's been a surge of energy in the conversation about pulling back the amount of tech in our kids' lives. Whether it's the debate about school cellphone bans or the call for social media to come with a warning label, as proposed by U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, parents and educators are thinking seriously about how to best support a generation that is seemingly online 24/7.

Join Commonsense Media at this free webinar to hear how educators have refined their cellphone and AI policies, and learn from our parenting experts who will share strategies for adapting to the new norms. This hour-long live webinar will be appropriate for parents with kids of all ages.
