LOWER SCHOOL BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPORT FROM SCHOOL COUNSELOR KIM VALENTINE
The return to the school year is full of emotions, some of which may be excitement, joy, sadness, and apprehension. Some students feel nervous starting the year because there is so much “new” ahead of them, and others find all the new things exciting. All of these responses to the start of the year are okay and expected.
As we enter this new school year, it’s a great time to remind ourselves of where our children are in their developmental stages and what they need from us, their trusted adults.

CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEANUP THANK YOU!
This past Saturday was a beautiful day to clean some beaches! Thank you to all who came out, and to those who sent their good wishes for a smooth Coastal Cleanup event. On Miramar/Hammonds beach alone, the LBS Coastal Cleanup team—led by faculty Allison Armstrong and Blair Butler—collected over 150 pounds of trash and cleaned almost two miles of oceanfront, with the help of over 40 volunteers.
This important and successful cleanup event is not only important for our environment but provides us another opportunity to honor and remember our beloved colleague, Clara Svedlund. Twelve years ago, Clara spearheaded Laguna’s adoption of Hammonds/Miramar Beach and our annual participation in CA Coastal Cleanup Day.
