NOAH KAMPS '22 TEAMS UP WITH LAGUNA ALUMNUS IN ALASKA FOR SENIOR PROJECT
Noah is pictured above with Mom Louise Gainey (LBS Class of 1986) and Dad John Kamps.
For his senior project, Noah Kamps is joining Laguna alum Bill Urschel '74 aboard his 72-foot research boat, Alaska Endeavor, to help conduct interviews with various scientists in the area. Interviewees include the lead scientist at the Alaska Whale Foundation, citizen-scientists who have been monitoring the Tenakee Inlet's salmon streams and hope to win protected status for them, and a field biologist in Juneau who has live-trapped more brown bears (grizzlies) than anyone alive.
The Alaska Endeavor supports scientists and others in exploring the nature, history, and culture of Alaska, and helps those people tell their stories. "We believe the more people know about the nature, history, and culture of Alaska, the more they will be inclined to preserve it. Science leads to conservation," says Bill.
We can't wait to learn more about this once-in-a-lifetime experience during Noah's senior project presentation in June!

LAGUNA ALUMNA TIFFANY YABSLEY TO LEAD YOGA CAMP AT SUMMER @ LAGUNA
Tiffany Yabsley '17 is coming back to the nest to offer an exciting Yoga & Wellness Camp at Summer @ Laguna!
Yoga & Wellness at Laguna is a camp for rising students in Grades 5 through 8. Two separate weeks will be offered: July 5-8 and July 18-22. Students will be able to express themselves through movement and introspection. Each day will have an individual theme for campers to connect with others, set short-term & long-term goals, reignite their inner child, and become equipped with tools to re-ground themselves, which is especially important after these past few years!
"The culmination of this week full of movement and creative activities will help each camper confront whatever life throws them on and off their mat," says Tiffany. "It will be a week of being human again."
Tiffany is graduating from the University of San Diego this May with a BA in Marketing and Finance. During her last semester, she worked for an independent financial firm testing the waters as a financial advisor. "Although I love my job, I wanted to do something that fuels me physically, emotionally, and mentally this summer," says Tiffany. "It was fate when Mr. Moore reached out and asked me to do this! After this summer, I am going back to school at USD to get my master's in finance and test for my CFA charterholder."
