Please add yourself to the waitlist if you don’t get into your preferred camp. We will be adding spaces and sections to camps based on popularity.
SAFETY PROTOCOL UPDATES FOR NEXT WEEK
LAGUNA’S INDOOR MASKING UPDATE
Effective Monday, March 14, we will adjust Laguna’s masking policy per Santa Barbara County Public Health Department guidance and no longer require indoor masking regardless of vaccination status. We recognize that each household’s health circumstances and comfort level varies, and we will support each family’s decision regarding wearing masks in school. We also expect all members of our community to respect others’ choices. Please note: students and staff should continue bringing a face mask with them each day in the event that masking should be required.

DAILY WELLNESS CHECK UPDATE
Students will no longer require a QR code for entry into school beginning on Monday, March 14. While the use of our daily wellness check via the Ruvna app will be discontinued, we encourage each family to continue monitoring symptoms and staying home from school/getting tested when sick—even with minor cold or allergy symptoms.

PARENTS/GUESTS ON CAMPUS
The Lower School campus opened to families this week for Tecolote Tuesday assembly and lunch service.

Families and guests continue to be invited to our Hope Ranch campus for volunteer opportunities. Parent volunteers are no longer required to wear masks while serving lunch. And best of all, families will again be invited to attend upcoming celebrations such as the Cum Laude Induction Ceremony in April.

Protocols regarding COVID symptoms, infections, and quarantining remain unchanged. Thank you for swiftly reporting positive COVID test results to [email protected].

TESTING
We encourage all families to utilize the free testing services through Aptitude at Earl Warren Showgrounds. Aptitude test results will now be available at 9PM on the date tested if submitted by the cut-off time (2:30PM for Santa Barbara site). The samples collected after the cut-off time will yield results by 2PM the next day.

If you are not able to test through Aptitude, we still require PCR-level tests.

COVID SYMPTOM MONITORING

•      Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

LOS PADRES CLUB SPRING BREAK TRIP DETAILS
LBS Los Padres Club Spring Trip 2022
March 28 - April 1
Location: Manzana Schoolhouse Camp, Los Padres National Forest

Laguna Blanca works in partnership with the Los Padres Forest Association to offer a working vacation each spring. Laguna students backpack to a selected location within the National Forest to perform trail maintenance, which can be applied to their community service hours requirement. All equipment and expertise is supplied by the LFPA, who typically send one or two adults to join Laguna’s faculty chaperones on the 4-night expedition. It’s an unforgettable way to spend spring break and give back to the local forest!

The trip is open to Grades 9-12 who are interested in camping, hiking, and trail maintenance. The $250 trip fee is due by March 14. Participating students should also turn in their Release of Liability Form to the main office by March 14.

Teacher chaperones Michelle Finck and Zach Lillie-Libert and a Los Padres Forest Association member will accompany students on this trip.

All participating students must have a negative COVID test and be symptom-free on Monday, March 28.

Click on the buttons below for more information!

MIDDLE SCHOOL QUARTER 4 SPORTS SURVEY
Middle School students – please take a few moments to respond to this very brief survey so we can understand student interest in the teams offered in the final quarter of the year:
  • Co-Ed Flag Football
  • Co-Ed Track

The season runs from April 4 to May 26.

Please click here to complete the survey. Even if NOT planning on participating, your reply of “not participating” is necessary for Director of Athletics Matt Steinhaus to most accurately capture potential rosters. Thank you!
TIP FROM THE COLLEGE COUNSELOR
At Laguna, every junior is required to write a self-recommendation letter. What’s the point? It’s an exercise in the self-awareness and self-presentation skills that are at the heart of a successful application process. It’s practice in starting to view oneself with more objectivity, and in some cases, more balance and compassion.

Parents can help students with this process by helping their children see how unique they are. Mom and Dad tend to have many great examples to back that up. But it’s ultimately an exercise in concision, selecting the right details, and seeing oneself through the lens of other people. Give it a try!
Classes will resume on Monday, April 4.
