Our club meets every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at Tsillan Cellars in Sorrento's Ristorante. Our satellite meeting is held at The Vogue, the Valley's Gathering Place, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. Please join us at either of these meetings, and feel free to bring a guest interested in Rotary.

Acres of Diamonds
Speaker: Jennifer Paddock

Our speaker this week will be Jen Paddock, Executive Director of Acres of Diamonds since 2014.  Acres of Diamonds is a transitional housing program helping moms and kids step out of homelessness and back into the community. The organization supports women by teaching new skills to help provide a safe and thriving home environment.

Jen was raised in Bellevue and currently resides in Redmond Ridge. She is a member of the Duvall Rotary Club. Prior to her time at Acres of Diamonds, she served as the Community Outreach Director at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. Jen has a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology from Seattle Pacific University.
Rotary Social at Sunset Marina
Thanks to Scott McKellar who hosted this month's Social at the Sunset Marina clubhouse on September 12 and provided a fabulous setting for the 29 Rotarians and guests who brought wonderful food and drink to share. It was a perfect late summer evening allowing us to enjoy the venue both inside and outside.
Mission Accomplished
Many hours went into a recent community service project. Thank you to everyone who made this happen. The happy conclusion is shown below!
Club Announcements
New member proposals:  Several potential new members have been approved by the Lake Chelan Rotary Board and Membership Committee and are eligible for induction at a meeting in the near future. If you have comments regarding any of these individuals, please contact President Ty Witt as soon as possible.

  • Rod Brooks, sponsored by Mary Pat Scofield, is a long time homeowner in Chelan who recently retired and now resides here full time. He has extensive executive marketing experience and has held leadership roles with DECA and the WSU Scholarship Foundation. He recently founded The Grandpa Project.
  • Lisa Wells, sponsored by Kelly Allen, recently moved to Chelan from California, with a background in health care as a registered nurse. 
  • Robert Browsey, sponsored by Karen Feek, is a retired hardware store owner with experience as a former volunteer fire fighter, small town mayor, city council member, and park Chair.
  • Barry DePaoli, sponsored by Jordana LaPorte, is currently the Chelan School District Superintendent, with interest in being the liaison between Rotary and the schools.
  • Cindy Buboltz, sponsored by Dan Hodge, is a former Rotarian and has experience as an executive in the telecommunications industry.


Watch for more details regarding a Fireside Chat to be held this fall for newer members to learn more about our club, connect with other recent members, and learn about projects or committees of interest. If you have questions or input please contact John Ausnes .

Young Professional Summit in Montreal September 20 - 22, 2018
There is opportunity for Rotary club members who are approximately 25 - 40 years old, as well as Rotaractors, to participate in the Young Professional Summit at the upcoming Montreal Zone Conference. The agenda includes:
  •  Special Session with RI President Barry (he will be spending an hour with just the YP group)
  • Get your hands active with a service project
  • Meet fellow Rotarians in their demographic
  • Attend Zone plenary sessions and listen to the likes of: RI President Barry Rassin and Former Prime Minister Paul Martin
  • Learn more about networking in Rotary and Rotary Means Business
  • Learn about what Philanthropy looks like in the future
  • Strategic Planning that you will be able to bring back to your club/ District
  • Provide your feedback to Rotary Leaders to ensure Rotary is viable to your demographic
When: Thursday, September 20 @ 6pm – Saturday, September 22 nd
Where: Hotel Bonaventure – Montreal, Quebec

Community Service Team Calendar
Lake Chelan Rotary Club Community Service Chair Ty Witt has projects lined up through this fall. Specific project assignments, locations and times will be announced to the Community Service teams via email from the team captains. Projects are subject to change throughout the year. Plan to participate by marking your calendar for the specific Saturday corresponding with your assigned Community Service Team. Not sure if you are assigned to a team? Check the link on our website, and let Ty Witt or a Team Captain know! http://www.lakechelanrotary.org/community/
The schedule throughout the year is as follows:

Team 1:  First Saturday of the month. 

Team 2:  Second Saturday of the month. 

Team 3:  Third Saturday of the month - watch for an email from your Team Captains regarding an assignment for Sept. 15 .

Team 4:  Fourth Saturday of the month. Watch for your September 22 assignment from your Team Captains.
District 5060 Fall Assembly - Register Now
The District 5060 Fall Assembly is on October 27 and 28, 2018 and will be at Campbell's Resort. Complete details including the agenda are on the Distriict website at Fall Assembly Weekend .

Wondering if you should go? This event is for both club leaders and new Rotarians alike, and your partners are welcome at the Friday banquet and social.

Chelan Chase October 20, 2018
This year's Chelan Chase is on Saturday, October 20, 2018. The following day, the Pink Ribbon Golf Classic and Auction will be held at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. Mark your calendars to volunteer, run, or walk in these important community service events. Registration is open now! Go to http://www.lakechelanrotary.org/chelan-chase/  and follow our Facebook page at Chelan Chase Run.

The 2019 Chelan Chase is being organized this year by Lake Chelan Rotary Club, at the request of Soroptomist International of Chelan. The Soroptomists will still be involved - and the mission will remain the same.

Lake Chelan Community Hospital Guild "B" Home Tour September 15
Plan on attending the 2018 Lake Chelan Community Hospital Guild "B" Home Tour and Art Show on September 15 . This year features four beautiful, diverse homes on both sides of the lake and downtown. Tour homes at your leisure throughout the day, and don't forget to stop at Tsillan Cellars to check out the art show and have a glass of wine or lunch, with 25% of artist proceeds donated to the Guild. Proceeds from this year's tour will go toward the purchase of a post-partum Family Room in the new hospital. Tickets and more information available at LakeChelanHomeTour.com , Allison's of Manson, the Culinary Apple, and the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce. Tickets will also be on sale the day of the Home Tour at any of the homes and at Tsillan Cellars.
