Our club meets every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at Tsillan Cellars in Sorrento's Ristorante. Our satellite meeting is held at The Vogue, the Valley's Gathering Place, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. Please join us at either of these meetings, and feel free to bring a guest interested in Rotary.

The Grandpa Project
Speaker: Rod Brooks

Our speaker this week will be Lake Chelan Rotarian Rod Brooks. The mission of The Grandpa Project's mission is to help men consider the value they bring to their grandchildren's lives and to enable children to experience a loving relationship with their grandpa, due to the belief that every child deserves to know, learn from, and be loved by their grandpa. Rod retired as Chief Marketing Officer at PEMCO insurance after nearly 20 years with a career spanning 45 years in marketing and advertising, He is also an experienced grandpa with 8 grandchildren to date.
New Members Inducted
Lake Chelan Rotary Club welcomed two additional new members at the October 2 lunch meeting. Cindy Buboltz, sponsored by Dan Hodge, recently moved to Chelan. Her work background is as an executive in the telecommunications industry. Rod Brooks, sponsored by Mary Pat Scofield, has background as the Chief Marketing Officer for PEMCO Insurance along with scholarship committee and DECA experience. He is launching The Grandpa Project here in Chelan. Membership Co-Chair Randi Burchett presented the induction speech and led the club in recitation of the Four Way Test. Welcome to both Cindy and Rod!
Leavenworth Road Rally
On September 22, Leavenworth Rotary hosted their annual Road Rally, which was a driving and walking clue-based treasure hunt with prizes and multi-club fellowship afterward. Organizer Mike Worden challenged other Rotary clubs to take part in this day of fun. See below is Mike Worden giving instructions, and presenting the Participation Award to Ty Witt, Kathy Witt, Lester Cooper and Carol Cooper. 
Club Announcements
Are you a newer member of Lake Chelan Rotary? Watch for an invitation to a Fireside Chat.  The first will be held on October 23 at the Lake Chelan Chamber from 5 to 7 p.m. to learn more about our club, connect with other recent members, and learn about projects or committees of interest. Subsequent sessions will be held to accommodate all. If you have questions please contact John Ausnes .

Our October club social will be on October 24 at the Lake Chelan Chamber where we will hold a  World's Greatest Meal to End Polio . Watch for details, but plan to be part of this awareness campaign which will occur at Rotary clubs around the world to highlight Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio.  We will have opportunity to watch a live streaming presentation from Barry Rassin, Rotary International President. Want to learn more about how Rotary is working to do this? Go to http://www.endpolio.org/

Community Service Team Calendar
Lake Chelan Rotary Club Community Service Chair Ty Witt has projects lined up through this fall. Specific project assignments, locations and times will be announced to the Community Service teams via email from the team captains. Projects are subject to change throughout the year. Plan to participate by marking your calendar for the specific Saturday corresponding with your assigned Community Service Team. Not sure if you are assigned to a team? Check the link on our website, and let Ty Witt or a Team Captain know! http://www.lakechelanrotary.org/community/  if you want to join a team.
The schedule throughout the year is as follows:

Team 1/All Teams Welcome:  First Saturday of the month.  October 6, 8:30 a.m., fall cleanup at Pingrey Park.

Team 2/All Teams Welcome:  Second Saturday of the month.  Fa ll cleanup at Pingrey Park.

Team 3:  Third Saturday of the month. 
Team 4:  Fourth Saturday of the month.
District 5060 Fall Assembly - Register Now
The District 5060 Fall Assembly is on October 27 and 28, 2018 and will be at Campbell's Resort. Complete details including the agenda are on the Distriict website at Fall Assembly Weekend .

Wondering if you should go? This event is for both club leaders and new Rotarians alike, and your partners are welcome at the Friday banquet and social.

Chelan Chase October 20, 2018
This year's Chelan Chase is on Saturday, October 20, 2018. The following day, the Pink Ribbon Golf Classic and Auction will be held at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. Mark your calendars to volunteer, run, or walk in these important community service events. Registration is open now! Go to ChelanChase.com  and follow our Facebook page at Chelan Chase Run.

The 2019 Chelan Chase is being organized this year by Lake Chelan Rotary Club, at the request of Soroptomist International of Chelan. The Soroptomists will still be involved - and the mission will remain the same.
