Pingrey Park Cleanup Underway
On Saturday, October 6, Community Service Team 1 was joined by several other Rotarians and their spouses as fall cleanup of the Pingrey Park wall and surrounding landscape commenced. The crew made great progress with further work planned for the weekend of October 13. Watch for exciting changes next year to this gateway into Chelan as the planned mural project progresses. Thank you to Ty Witt, Lester Cooper, Concie Luna, Mary Pat Scofield, Ron Hart, Kirk and Mary McGovern, Karen and John Pembroke, Chris Millsap, and Don Christenson for your efforts last weekend.
Club Announcements
Are you a newer member of Lake Chelan Rotary? Watch for an invitation to a Fireside Chat.  The first will be held on October 23 at the Lake Chelan Chamber from 5 to 7 p.m. to learn more about our club, connect with other recent members, and learn about projects or committees of interest. Subsequent sessions will be held to accommodate all. If you have questions please contact John Ausnes .

Our October club social will be on October 24 at the Lake Chelan Chamber where we will hold a  World's Greatest Meal to End Polio . Watch for details, but plan to be part of this awareness campaign which will occur at Rotary clubs around the world to highlight Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio.  We will have opportunity to watch a live streaming presentation from Barry Rassin, Rotary International President. Want to learn more about how Rotary is working to do this? Go to http://www.endpolio.org/

Do you contribute to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International through automatic payment withdrawals? Please remember to notify Linda O'Brian at [email protected] if you do to ensure that the additional $25 annual club contribution is made in your name.
Community Service Team Calendar
Specific project assignments, locations and times will be announced to the Community Service teams via email from the team captains. Not sure if you are assigned to a team? Check the link on our website, and let Ty Witt or a Team Captain know! http://www.lakechelanrotary.org/community/  if you want to join a team.

Team 2/All Help Welcomed:    Planned project for October 13 is completion of fall cleanup at Pingrey Park.  Meet at 8:30 a.m. with gloves and bring weed trimmers if you have them.

This should complete the Community Service team projects for the 2018 calendar year.  Thanks to all who participated and made our community a better place this year.
District 5060 Fall Assembly - Register Now
The District 5060 Fall Assembly is coming up on October 27 and 28, 2018 at Campbell's Resort. Complete details including the agenda are on the District website at Fall Assembly Weekend .

Wondering if you should go? This event is for both club leaders and new Rotarians alike, and your partners are welcome at the Friday banquet and social. Peter Erickson, District Foundation Chair, advises that rooms are at a premium and going fast. Attendance of club members involved in either District grants or Global grants is encouraged as there are two very informative sessions covering the application process and stewardship of foundation funds scheduled.

Friday October 26 at 3 PM the stewardship topic will be covered in the session “Grant review and the Club.”

Saturday October 27, there will be a presentation about District and Global grants at a break out session at 1:30 PM, repeated again at 2:30 PM.

This is a great opportunity for Rotary fellowship, sharing great projects in the district, good food and friendship. How could you not want to participate? Please register ASAP as registration will be stopped the week before the assembly.
