October is Economic and Community Development Month
Please enjoy, learn and be inspired by this week's Lake Views newsletter of Lake Chelan Rotary. We are proud of the community and international service we have provided since 1926 to the Lake Chelan region.
Our club meets every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at Tsillan Cellars in Sorrento's Ristorante. Our satellite meeting is held at The Vogue, the Valley's Gathering Place, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. Please join us at either of these meetings, and feel free to bring a guest interested in Rotary.

THE FOUR-WAY TEST
These principles have been developed over the years to provide Rotarians with a strong, common purpose and direction. They serve as a foundation for our relationships with each other and the action we take in the world.

Chelan Chase Memories
First and foremost, the weather was beautiful for the Chase! Everyone had visions of rain, but Mother Nature scored a sunny and crisp Fall day. 178 participants came out to take part in this event. (And approximately 56 participants for the Pink Ribbon Classic Golf Scramble the following day). Thank you to all the Rotarians (and high school students) that volunteered to help make this a successful event. We had many participants thank us for making this event happen.
[Note photo of Mary Pat and Rick: They weren't quite sure if they were coming or going, but being the clever Rotarians they are, they eventually figured it out!!]
And, a big thanks to our friends at Wal-Mart also, who volunteered time and a donation.

WORLD POLIO DAY/OCTOBER SOCIAL
Photos from the social and polio awareness gathering. It was a good turnout of Rotarians (and even some Interact students) enjoying good food, beverages and friends...prior to the World Polio Day video presentation.

Club Announcements
Ron Hart
was chosen by President Ty Witt as the Rotarian of the Month. Ron can be counted on to show up at about any and all Rotary projects and events. Thank you Ron, for your time and dedication! You are truly An Inspiration!
New member proposal: A potential new member has been approved by the Lake Chelan Rotary Board and Membership Committee, and his induction into Rotary is planned at the October 30 meeting. If you have comments regarding this individual, please contact President Ty Witt.
- Barry Leahy, sponsored by Mary Pat Scofield, is a past Rotarian and Kiwanis. He was a Professor in Graduate School at UW for 11 years, and has acted as an Owners Representative for corporations and families, guiding major construction projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. Barry's next project will be the construction of the Lake Chelan Community Hospital and Clinics. He and his wife (Shannon) relocated from Bellevue to their home up Antoine Creek, and strongly believe in the concept of service and participation in their community.
Festival of Trees: Our Rotary Club will be participating in the Festival of Trees event (see further information below). In fact, we already have a tree ready to decorate! However, we will be needing somebody(s) to help champion this endeavor. (There is a rumor that a couple of Board members are willing to head this up). And, they will be needing a few good volunteers to help out. Further details to come.
Prescription Glasses Donation: Don't toss out those old prescription glasses (or sunglasses). Tom Tochterman will be collecting them for donation next time he heads over to his "home away from home" in Kenya.
