November is Rotary Foundation Month

Please enjoy, learn and be inspired by this week's Lake Views newsletter of Lake Chelan Rotary. We are proud of the community and international service we have provided since 1926 to the Lake Chelan region.

Our club meets every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at Tsillan Cellars in Sorrento's Ristorante. Our satellite meeting is held at The Vogue, the Valley's Gathering Place, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. Please join us at either of these meetings, and feel free to bring a guest interested in Rotary.

ROTARY SOCIAL
LAYLA'S
NOVEMBER 14, 2018
Our next Rotary Social will be at Layla's in Chelan. Come join up with friends for a fun and "just want to hang out" sort of evening on Wednesday, November 14, 5:30PM. Small plates and drinks (full bar) are available for purchase. Layla's is located at 142-B East Woodin Avenue. Look forward to seeing you there!
Honorary Member
Even though John Anderson "retired" from Lake Chelan Rotary, he comes to visit as often as he can, noting that our Club is the finest Rotary Club he has been a member of. Tye Witt presented him with an Honary Membership at the October 30 meeting. John will return to Chelan someday...when the timing is right for his family.
New Member
Barry Leahy was inducted into the Lake Chelan Rotary Club on Tuesday, October 30. Paul Gunn and Randi Burchett presented him with his Rotary pin.

 Welcome Barry!
Club Announcements

Festival of Trees: Our Rotary Club will be participating in the Festival of Trees event (see further information below). In fact, we already have a tree ready to decorate! However, we will be needing somebody(s) to help champion this endeavor. (There is a rumor that a couple of Board members are willing to head this up). And, they will be needing a few good volunteers to help out. Further details to come.

Prescription Glasses Donation: Don't toss out those old prescription glasses (or sunglasses). Tom Tochterman will be collecting them for donation next time he heads over to his "home away from home" in Kenya.

Do you contribute to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International through automatic payment withdrawals? Please remember to notify Linda O'Brian at  [email protected]  if you do to ensure that the additional $25 annual club contribution is made in your name.
2018 LAKE CHELAN FESTIVAL OF TREES
The Historic Downtown Chelan Association and the  Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce  present the 2018 Lake Chelan Festival of Trees. Funds raised from the Holiday Gala and Auction Fundraiser will go to benefit  Thrive Chelan Valley.   Individuals, businesses, schools, churches, and organizations are all encouraged to join in this fun event  by  donating an artificial decorated tree or wreath .

The beautifully decorated trees and wreaths will be on display at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce from November 23 rd  through December 1 st . The Chamber will host a preview open house on November 23 rd  from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with coffee, cider and cookies.

New for 2018 will be the Holiday Gala and Auction the evening of December 1 st  at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Bidding will take place as guests enjoy an array of heavy appetizers, holiday sweets, champagne, local wines and beer. The evening also features live music, a Raise the Paddle opportunity to benefit the  Thrive Teen Center , and just possibly a surprise appearance by a very special guest!
Rotary Food Bank Drive
It's time for the Rotary Food Drive in support of our local community food bank. As he's done for about 12 years, Kim Skaar will be heading up this effort. Thanks Kim! Kim needs about 8 Rotarians to help on Saturday, November 17. If you are interested in lending a helping hand, please contact Kim directly at [email protected] , 509-670-2223 , or Kim will be at next Tuesday's meeting (November 6) with a sign-up sheet. Views of the Lake

This photo was taken by Karen Takagi from the back deck of their home. Sometimes a dog just likes to sit in the Autumn sun and ponder life. Or for a yellow lab...ponder ducks.

Photo submissions are welcomed. If you have an interesting photo of the lake or from around the community, please send it to [email protected] or [email protected] .
