Speaker - Sherry Chamberlain, District 5060 Governor

Our new District Governor, Sherry Chamberlain, who is from Kamloops, BC, plans to visit every Rotary club in the District this year.  Our club will have two opportunities to meet with her on Tuesday, August 7.

The first will be at a meeting with the Lake Chelan Rotary Board (which all are welcome to attend) at 10:00 a.m. at the Chelan Chamber of Commerce in the Rotary Room.

Following the meeting at the Chamber, she will be our guest speaker at the lunch meeting at Tsillan Cellars.

Don't miss the chance to meet our new Governor, learn about her Rotary journey, and get inspired for the new Rotary year!

Join your fellow Lake Chelan Rotarians at the next Social, which will be hosted by Jan and Kathi Fedor at their home on Wednesday, August 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please bring an appetizer to share and an adult beverage of your choice. The Fedors will provide ice, mixers, glasses and a great venue to enjoy a relaxing evening.

The address is 532 Highpoint Lane, Chelan. Limited parking is available at the house, which is at the end of Highpoint Lane, with additional parking at the garage part way up the driveway, or in the cul-de-sac at the driveway entrance. If you have questions, please contact Jan at [email protected].
Club Announcements
Club Committees: There are opportunities to Chair the 2018 Chelan Chase in October and the 2019 Vineyard Runs, and several committees need additional members including the Shine On and Rotary Radio. Check out what is available and where you can make a difference on the club website at Lake Chelan Rotary Committees.

New Project Funds: 2018-2019 District 5060 Governor Sherry Chamberlain has announced that $500 is available to all clubs in our District to help initiate projects in our immediate communities. We must match this with our own $500 contribution. Do you have an idea for a new project? Submit a short request with a description and a photo to Ty Witt for consideration.

Rotary Leadership Institute: Are you interested in attending Leadership training in Vernon, BC? A couple of our members have expressed interest, but there is opportunity for others to attend. For more information about the September session and registration go to Rotary Leadership Institute

"Every Rotarian Every Year": Don Lloyd, our Club's Rotary Foundation Chair, has the current annual report of Paul Harris Fellow contributions available. To check your status, please contact Don at [email protected].

Many thanks to our July Program Coordinator Lew Clark who did a great job lining up interesting speakers despite some scheduling challenges. Our August Program Coordinator is Coron Polley.

If you are on a Community Service Team but do not yet have a "Rotarian at Work" t-shirt to wear to service events, please contact Phil Moller.

Views of the Lake

This week's View of the Lake was taken while traveling downlake, with the Cascades in the background.

There were a lot of interesting sights in the Chelan valley this week.  Did anyone capture good photos of the aerial firefighting efforts over the lake? If you would like to submit a photo for publication please send it to Lake View Editor Karen Pembroke or Assistant Editor Karen Takagi.
