Registration is open now for the 2019 Chelan Chase on Saturday, October 19! Plan to run or walk in this community service event which benefits Lake Chelan Community Hospital by providing mammogram screening and evaluation for uninsured or under-insured women with demonstrated financial need. A portion of the proceeds also go to Wellness Place, an outreach program of Confluence Health which offers resources for all types of cancer patients and their families in North Central Washington.

And watch for more information regarding the Pink Ribbon Classic golf tournament which is the following day, Sunday, October 20, at Chelan Municipal Golf Course.

We still need volunteers for this event, and in particular need a Sponsorship leader who can contact last year's sponsors by mid-September. Donations for the Silent Auction at the golf course are also needed. Please email Committee Chair Kim Dunbar or call at 509-682-6133 if you can help.

August is Rotary Membership month. It is important to bring in new members, but just as important to retain them! Each member joined Rotary because they want to be involved. It is everyone's responsibility to engage and keep new members informed, but if you sponsored a member you have an even greater role. Are you involved in a committee that needs help? Use this as your opportunity to invite the new member to be actively involved.

Watch for regular thoughts about membership in upcoming newsletters and let them get you inspired to think about why you are a Rotarian and how you can get involved.
Club Announcements
Community Service Team 4: Saturday, August 24 is your day. Please watch for an email from Team Captain Phil Moller regarding the assignment.

Invoices for annual club dues were sent via email on June 19. If you have not yet paid, please remit payment as soon as possible. Dues will remain $275 for the Rotary year, with an optional $75 Rotary Foundation contribution noted on the invoice. You can help Kenyan primary school students by giving school supplies to go with the 27 Rotary backpacks donated by Lester Cooper. Bring pencils, pens, notebooks, etc. to an upcoming lunch meeting soon so that he can pack them for an upcoming trip to Kenya.

Remember to turn in your new member checklist to Membership Chair Paul Gunn within 6 months to get your updated name badge with the red "new member" ribbon removed!

Rotaract Club is now in Chelan. The Governor's Council has recognized the importance of RLI and has discounted the regular registration from $170 to only $85 for Rotarians and Rotaractors. To register, go to Yakima RLI Registration or contact Sadie Thayer - Rotary Club of Ellensburg Morning, District 5060 RLI-South Chair, at E: [email protected] or  509.925.3778.
