Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides FREE books to Lake County residents (birth to 5)
All Lake County families can now enroll in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, thanks to the Lake County Regional Office of Education Foundation (LCROEF). This cherished program delivers free, high-quality books each month to children from birth to age five, regardless of income.

The Lake County ROE has partnered with ReferralGPS to help students, staff, and families find local mental health and substance use resources. The service includes a searchable database and Care Navigation for triage, appointment scheduling, and follow-up, complementing existing district supports.

NBCT ~ Fall Candidate Fee Subsidy Application is OPEN!
The state fall subsidy window opens Tuesday, September 23, 2025, @ 8 am and closes on Sunday, October 5, 2025, @ 11:59 pm. This subsidy covers all fees associated with the components. There is a $75 nonrefundable registration fee to join NBPTS. This is the only cost a teacher or school counselor will incur. Click here to learn more about the subsidy.
Free support is available throughout the certification process, and support sessions are anticipated to begin in October.

SUBSTITUTE TRAINING
Just a reminder that the ROE offers on-line substitute training available on-line 24/7. There is a $25 fee. The training is approximately two hour long. At the end of the training there is a short test. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon passing this test. While it was created to accommodate the requirement for the short-term substitute license, it is available to any substitute that is interested. Click for more info..
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR LICENSE (PEL) WITH OUT OF COUNTRY CREDENTIALS
Educators applying with credentials from outside the United States must also submit a credential evaluation from an
ISBE approved service reflecting the U.S. equivalency of degrees and semester hours earned(course by course
evaluation) that verifies preparation in the licensure area being sought. Visit the Illinois State Board of Education
website International Resources section to see list of approved services, and learn more about the process.
RECIPROCITY
Effective January 1, 2026, Illinois will continue to offer reciprocity for all endorsements listed on a valid, comparable
out-of-state license (OSCERT) ; however, ALL applicants must also successfully pass the applicable Illinois content area
test(s) for each area listed on the OSCERT to qualify. (Register here: ILTS.) Content test scores must be submitted
directly from ILTS/Pearson to be accepted. (This requirement is effective January 1, 2026, and applies to all applications
received on or after this date.)
