Renewal
Educators up for renewal in 2022 may complete their renewal now. Be sure that you have entered all your required PD. Active administrators need one academy in each fiscal year working in that position in addition to your PD requirement.
Retired/Retiring
If you have been actively working, professional development and academies are required up to your retirement date. You must complete all requirements and enter it to your ELIS account to renew you PEL.
Short-Term Approval for Teachers of All Grades
If you completed 9 semester hours in a content area (official transcript required) or passed the content area test, you may qualify for a short-term approval. When issued, the approval will be valid until June 30,2023 and would allow you to begin teaching this content area while you continue to complete the requirements for the full endorsement. Educator must apply for the approval in your ELIS account ($50 fee) District must submit form 73-96

If you have moved or changes your name, it is important to keep your ELIS account up to date. Please complete form 73-71
Send the completed form along with a driver’s license to: licensure@lake.12.il.us and we will make the change to your credentials.

Short-Term Substitutes may now work for 15 consecutive days (previously 5)
Effective starting January 1, 2023
Student teachers may obtain a substitute license if they have 90 credit hours. Age for paraprofessional has been lowered to age 18 (previously 19)
