It's going to be a fun time at the lake this summer!
Welcome to the first edition of Lake Cowichan 75th Anniversary E-News.

What’s it all about? It’s our 75th birthday and you’re invited to be a part of this year-long celebration which will not only includes a BIG ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND (August 16-18) , but a whole host of events throughout 2019...and beyond! We’re definitely looking at the biggest and brightest celebration the town has seen in many years. We have truly excellent facilities in our town, so competitive events and tournaments are being contemplated.

Lake Cowichan has undergone changes since the closure of all the lumber mills in the area.  Now, in this progressive world of technology and communication, our town is embarking with a new energy and optimism on a quest to define itself as a tourist and activity destination. The motto of our Anniversary is “Honouring Our Past, Embracing the Future,” so we’re warmly inviting visitors from throughout the Cowichan Valley and beyond to come and celebrate with us.

This is not only a celebration for the Town of Lake Cowichan, but for all our lakeside communities as well. Surrounded by some of the most gorgeous topography on Vancouver Island in such a convenient location to major urban centres, this 75th Anniversary Celebration is the perfect way for you and your families to discover our wonderful town and enjoy the beauty of “Vancouver Island’s Best Kept Secret!”. Mark the date in your calendar for Aug 16 to 18 for some fun at the lake. Please share this e-news.

Here's What is Happening in May.
75th Anniversary Photo Exhibit, May 17 - 19, lower Centennial Hall. Fourteen photographers and over 60 photos on exhibit. The First Annual Photo Exhibition was born out of the sharing of photographs through the Facebook page Lake Cowichan Photography Enthusiasts . These images embraced the different points of view and the creative expertise of residents around the lake. What better way to share these visions that to hold a formal exhibit to celebrate the interaction of people and our environment on this 75th Anniversary.
