LAKE CRABTREE CONNECTION

May 2025

PRESS RELEASE: A Farewell to Trails

Lake Crabtree County Park’s multiuse trails, located to the north of the park’s main road, will permanently close at the end of the day, Sunday, June 1. This will allow our staff and volunteers to remove trail structures before the lease with Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority ends on June 30. The Lake Trail will remain open, allowing continued access to Black Creek Greenway, 286 and the Town of Cary’s Reedy Creek Trailhead.

Thank you to everyone who enjoyed and cared for these trails over the past three decades. We hope you’ll continue to visit us at Lake Crabtree for boating, fishing, programming and more.

Boat Rental

is Opening!

Long summer days mean warm weekend fun on the water! Lake Crabtree Boat Rental is eager to start their 2025 rental season on Friday, May 16th. This summer, the facility will offer our boats every weekend, Friday through Sunday, as well as summer holidays. Rental hours are from 10a - 6p, and the last rental goes out at 5.

Boat Rental has become one of our most popular features at Lake Crabtree, and boats fill up fast. We offer a variety of vessels; canoes, kayaks and double kayaks, pedal boats and stand-up paddle boards. The two-hour rental service is free, and provided on a first-come-first-served basis. On beautiful Saturdays, most boat types are on a waitlist, so pack a picnic or borrow a lawn game to enjoy while you wait!

Opening the rental is weather dependent. Lake Crabtree staff reserve the right to close Boat Rental during unsafe conditions. Check out Boat Rental Web Page for more information.
